mafia_boy wrote:I have come out with a professional comment. Unfortunatley a store manager is not a significant position. There are approx 1,897 store managers, do you think they are really important? Compare the borad of directors. They number probably 10-20. Who do you think is more important? I have a fairly good idea at the wages, excluding potential bonuses, so I feel well informed. You are aware bonuses don't count as all managers upwards will recieve bonuses, and the higher they are the better the bonus. You do also realise the divedends paid to the staff in comparison to the directors are equivilant to one peanut and a bag of peanuts. Staff are just a renewable resource, thay mean nothing and I mean it in no offensive way its just a fact. Most realise this and to those that don't fine, but given the chioce between any amount of profit and a member of staff the directors would shoot the member of staff if it gained profit. Harsh, yes, but thats business!
Just to Quantify what I have said, there are in total 15 Directors. That makes every store manager worth 0.0079th of a director and yet it is suggested they are not only worth something but they are able to challenge the decision of a director. They are worth nothing and are instantly replacable, as such they should do as they are told and enforced the r&r policy imposed by the IMPORTANT directors!0 -

What you have just written could have been copied from 'The Sun' newspaper - Im sure everyone is well aware the higher you are in a company the greater the pay/benefits. The thing that suprised me is the 2 amounts you claimed would be paid to a Tesco SM - The 50,000 range would apply to a Metro SM this amount greatly increases on promotion to a SS or Extra, And as for the 25,000 for a CSM i know of many SEMs on more money (Clothing, Bakery, Stock Control Mangers and even FESEM i believe). The pay also depends on what 'Cat' store you are in and if your store has recruitment issues you can also have extra added to your salary.
In any big blue chip company Employee's generally become just a 'number' and unfortunatley become key to the specific store rather than to the company as a whole but with the amount of stores Tesco have this is to be expected.Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

If they were both say 18 x 440ml cans packs then i think you would have a case for R&R0 -

When you are an 'outsider' applying for a job within Tesco you can negotiate your pay hence why when SM vacancies are advertised it usually reads 'Excellent Pay + Benefits'Stand Up For What You Believe In, Even If It Means Standing Alone0 -

A reasonably sized Extra would have a turn over and head count to rival a medium sized business. I think you underestimate the role of Tesco Store Manager, especially in the larger stores.Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
