I believe that it's also illegal to sell fake goods.

    surely only if done 'knowingly'?

This does sound dodgy though: don't refund at all if you can avoid it: sounds like he's a con merchant possibly.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

I'm not sure if the "ignorance of the law is no defence" or whatever the exact wording would come in here.
I'm not too sure whether a seller would say, ok, fair cop, I did try selling you fake goods, now I'll just hand back all the money.
I think knowingly, would be a very hard one to prove, unless the OP has receipts from the shop the originally was purchased from.
It would have been nice if the OP had come back to let us know whether this had been taken further as yet.
Hopefully the buyer was someone chancing it, if the bag is genuine.

I had to look up Hermes Birkin on ebay after reading this and found that there is a bag that costs more than our first house did http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HERMES-BIRKIN-SANGUINE-35-MATTE-CROCODILE-/380350587598?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item588ea962ce

We bought the house 13 years ago, but even so, would you take a 3 bedroom, two reception cottage or the bag that Kate Moss has. Crazy money.

    That is insane!!

Ludicrous, more money than sense some people.
In some places you can still buy a house for that price. I'm not sure if I would ever pay that amount for a bag even if I were to win the Euro Millions.

I must admit if I won the euro millions I would buy 3 of these. 1 for me, one for my gran and one for my bessie mate.
