  • I only have 2 scarts on my STB, one to the tv and one to the video (well Panasonic HS2 HDD/DVD)
I have RCA outputs on my panny, but that wont record live TV will it?
is my only way to record onto panny then play and record onto Grundig/Sorell?

...or use a SCART Pass-through that has the phono connectors that can be switched in/out. Cheapest source I've seen is a car-boot market.

Often found included with portable DVD players too...

Thats what I ues, got it off ebay for 99p. search for 'Scart to Phono Adaptor' plenty on there.
  • that will allow me to connect to my stb via the scart?
but how do I watch tv at the same time as recording?

you need to make sure that there are no settings giving the file a packet bitstream..if you cant find the setting then use the below software to rip out the bitstream...the player cant handle bitstream very well...makes things very jittery.

Dont know how many people are having problems with 'jittery' avi's played on the TV, but most of the films I have, which I got from various sources, where very bad.
I used the software robpiggott suggested and 'unpacked' the bitstream. All my avi's now play perfect. The software converts the bitstream very fast too, only about 20 sec for a 700mb file.

Still not sure how to connect it up to my TV for recording though. If I use one of those switchable scart adapters, I'm going to have to plug and unplug my scarts whenever I want to use it.
I think I'll have to buy one of these, so I can fit it and forget it.

One of those mapling thingies will do the job you want.... Do you not have any audio and video phonos on the back of your dvd player, I'm not sure because I haven't tried it, but wont it record the tv channel it's set to from those?

I bought one of these back in december (when they were £120). Anyway, i posted my comments on the unit and my biggest bug with the unit was that at VGA 15fps it was watchable, and QVGA 30fps would have been better, but i reported that it didn't record properly from tv/sky/dvd at QVGA. Thankfully now the firmware is upgraded to 1.15 this problem is rectified and now records perfectly at 30fps QVGA. Another bug i found that became annoying was fastforward and rewind. It would rewind/fastforward really quickly, like at a minute or 2 at per second whilst holding down the directional pad. This has also been addressed in the new firmware.

It was already a good machine, now its nearly faultless, still crap audio volume though.

And finally thanks to a recent poster, the jittery divx's can now quickly be fixed, so all in all excellent and thanks to MSE and its users.

  • Hi there everyone, another new guy here.

As i am a bit of a music fanatic, i mainly use my GrundigVP6200 for the mp3 player on it.

the sound works well and all that, but some files do not come up at all on the player, although, when i connect it to my pc it comes up fine.

I have noticed that these files are those in the folders starting at 'S' (Saves the day) and ending at 'Z' (Zebrahead). The folders are their, just nothing in them on the player!

    Anything?
    Anything at all?

    Thanks A Million.
