ROM update worked for me - except that the radio does not seem to pick up any transmission - what does the message "Restart Tuner" mean?

Tried again and it does work, lousy volume!

Pressing the joystick in has got the box scanning for pre-sets, any idea how to jump between/select a pre-set station?

Im off to the pub as its sunday, but can anyone else have a go at updating?

Thing is , I tried a few things and dont know if it was the changes that 'helped' with the update, or it was sheer luck!

    Changes noticed so far:

    Radio seems different
When on TV mode it doesnt flicker anymore
AVIs dont seem to randomly stop anymore
Better decoding, not perfect still but better -Some films remain slightly jerky, but not as bad as before.

    Overall - Worth upgrading to,

Sounds good. Keep us posted on anything else you notice.
I don't think the girlfriend will be too happy when I tell her I may need to 'upgrade' her player. So keeping me abreast of any problems or otherwise.
Don't want to make it worse. :)

This thread should be moved to 'Gone, But was it any good'.

It is no longer about a Grabbit! It is now purely a discussion topic.

The product is no longer available on the link from the OP.

A very big thanks must go to Zakkieboy for pulling his unit apart to find this info out. I've just done the update ok. The only issue I seem to have found so far is that when I set the LCD output to PAL, the screen drops a few line down and in, not sure why. (Update - Not a problem if you set it to pal through system settings, only found this when setting it in video player) One of the other guys in the office has one too, and his does the same after the update. The one odd thing between his and my player though is that one or two files won't play on his (unsupported file format message), but do on mine. Most strange.

To be honest mate, I doubt it would be very cost effective. a replacement is around £50, and the larger ones are likely to be more expensive per gig.

    Drive info : http://tomshardware.co.uk/2005/03/23/miniature_disk_drive/

(I think the 60gb are 2 platter, making the drives thicker)

    you never know though... :)
