Outbackrockstar, any luck getting your unit yet?

Regarding the jumping files when playing problem, I've found that converting with Pocket Divx Encoder before transferring to the unit does work.

I've struggled to find out which files needed converting and which didn't, so just converted them all. Is there an easy way to see which files are DivX and which aren't? (Properties doesn't seem to be any use.)

load your video file into the above programme and it will tell you everything about it...a great little tool.

Sorry to hear outbackrockstar is having so much trouble with them. I have had much better luck with Grundig and I am quite surprised.
They have sent me the replacement unit in less than 3 weeks !! First they sent me a returns labels in 2 days and then sent a replacement in a little over 2 weeks. Pretty much fantastic I would say. And I had the same problem as outbackrockstar. I would say get on the phone. They do not reply to emails as I have experienced with them. They took about 15 minutes to speak to me on their 0870 number.
The replacement unit came with firmware 1.08g. My previous unit had 1.02g on it. Dont know whats improved but they've sadly introduced a bug as the resume function in audio is lost (still works in videos though).
I hope I dont get another pregnant battery again ! Cant give this gadget many marks for reliability though the functionality is pretty good.
  • Kiddster the best Mac software out there to CONVERT is ffmpegx. If you're just wanting to playback on your Mac and Quicktime just ain't capable try VLC.

    ;)

Thanks Monsieur. Will track it down.

Has anyone managed to get a car charger for this yet? Presumably as Grundig don't seem to do one you can use some sort of universal car charger with the correct +5v output, has anyone been able to find one?

Edit - to answer my own question just found a load on ebay for around the £6-7 mark, sorted

Hey Guys, and thanks for all your concern! ;)

Nope, no luck. No deliveries, no responses, no updates. Absolutely crap.

Been 3 weeks today since I paid for my item, haven't even been able to unpack a charger yet! What's the most annoying is that they ask for email as the 1st point of contact, and after 2 emails and nearly 3 weeks they still haven't even had the decency to reply.

If I don't have a delivery today I will ring them. Just don't see why I should spend EVEN MORE of my money to find out what is going on (already been on phone for over 20 minutes and had to package my PMP). Sent a letter to the Managing Director of the Alba group, see if he's as much of a #£$%@ as the rest of his colleagues hey?!! :D

Will keep you all posted

    Hi All,

Some advice is needed here please.

If I record a DVD from line in at VGA (15 fps) the quality is great although it is not smooth on playback due to the frame rate.

However, at QVGA (30 fps) I am experiencing jerking or flaring of the video on the screen during both recording and playback.

Does anyone have any idea's on what the problem is?

    Q.
  • Just thought i'd keep you all posted as promised.

Got an email from the MD Friday afternoon. He was apparently shocked to hear about whats happened, and that he is making serious changes in the CS systems.

Is going to deliver my item on Tuesday, and refund £25 back to me...

All works out in the end, on the hope my new one is OK! :D
