But, yep, having exactly the same problem as yourself. Going to email Grundig, see if they are going to release a patch, otherwise it's (regrettably) going back. Have had problems stopping the recording mind you, as you have to press & hold the record button darn hard to get it to stop (maybe just mine, not sure). Resetting back to the beginning of the recordings seems to happen when it does HDD wakeup(which pops up just before it resets), during the movie I guess. Great machine let down by poor (untested) software. The Archos software (albeit ALOT more expensive), puts this to shame. The companies rush these machines out to market, and simply don't test the software thoroughly enough. Expected better from Grundig.

good luck with getting a reply from Grundig.... i think you will find that there will be no updates in the firmware as they are pushing them out at such a low cost to get rid of them. no point in investing in new firmware if your gonna move onto other ventures. while the unit is a little fussy with what types of file you can use if you just cenvert everything to basic Divx files then the player will have no problems. ive watched a few now and find everything to play fine. the music side via the speakers is crap but through ear phones it is excellent for MP3. yes a basic browser but straight forward and to the point.

Very best of luck with getting any sort of response from Grundig... This company seriously hacks me right off....

Look back thru the posts and see when my problems all started, sent them an email over 2 weeks ago now about my product that turned up smashed into bits in the box, STILL HAD NO REPLY. This companies customer service is absoutely and utterly appauling. I sent my unit back over a week ago via courier (I had to pay for the packaging) and have still not received my new unit. Not even had an acknowledgement of it being received, or any sort of reply to my complaint, even though they say if you have any problems you should contact them via email as the 1st point of call.

Their attitude is just disgusting in my eyes. I've said it before and will say it again, great value for money however if you have any thought for aftersales care be VERY WARY of this company.

Kiddster the best Mac software out there to CONVERT is ffmpegx. If you're just wanting to playback on your Mac and Quicktime just ain't capable try VLC.

Thanks for the information on pocketdivx. What are the best settings to have when encoding the files. e.g bitrate, frames per second, quality, 2 pass encoding etc

I have downloaded the WinAvi software and loaded the blue Tanscoder cd.

The film I have converted shows up in my PMP video_TS when I view it on the computer but nothing shows up actually on my PMP. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Regarding the jumping files when playing problem, I've found that converting with Pocket Divx Encoder before transferring to the unit does work.

I've struggled to find out which files needed converting and which didn't, so just converted them all. Is there an easy way to see which files are DivX and which aren't? (Properties doesn't seem to be any use.)
