But, yep, having exactly the same problem as yourself. Going to email Grundig, see if they are going to release a patch, otherwise it's (regrettably) going back. I record programs from the TV, and whilst it records fine, this resetting back to the beginning is something they obviously didn't test !

Have had problems stopping the recording mind you, as you have to press & hold the record button darn hard to get it to stop (maybe just mine, not sure). Resetting back to the beginning of the recordings seems to happen when it does HDD wakeup(which pops up just before it resets), during the movie I guess. Great machine let down by poor (untested) software. The Archos software (albeit ALOT more expensive), puts this to shame. The companies rush these machines out to market, and simply don't test the software thoroughly enough. Expected better from Grundig.

I was also having the same problem as this which was really annoying. Quite a simple solution is once you've started watching your file, put the hold button on, and it stops the HDD Wakeup kicking in.

Is this a problem that everyone is having or just a few? Not sure whether to send it back or not or just put up with it.....

Result!!! Hope you like the unit when it arrives. The daft thing is I bought mine in anticipation of having to go into hospital, but now I like it so much I'm thinking of leaving it at home in case it gets nicked!

Will try that kiddster. Found that running all files through pocket divx encoder fixed the prob, but good to have a backup plan.

I just got a normal one - I could be wrong but I assumed you can't just charge only through USB due to the way it disables controls when USB is attached. That's purely a guess though, anyone know any different?

I hoped you were not going to say that . I pressed 'Buy It Now' and then realised the unit disables when connected via USB, hence posting my question in the hope someone would say, it's fine with a USB Car Charger.

Oh well, would you mind pointing me in the right direction of a normal 5v car charger, as all I seem to find is 4.5v chargers or can these be used?

I wasn't able to find a 5v either so the one I went one of the ones with variable output between 1.5v and 12v and have been using this set to 4.5v and for me at least this works fine. You need to check it's 2000mA output as some of them are 800mA. The one I went for was £5.99 with £1.99 post from seller deals96 but he does seem to vary the price slightly as it's back up to £6.99 now

Hey all,

My unit arrived. Very happy with it too!! Finally!

I have a couple of questions for you experienced users though....

Got about 4 gb of music on the unit, when I load it up on a random play the 1st track tends to skip and jump for the 1st 20-30 seconds of play, like it's still loading then it seems to settle and plays fine. Anyone else expereinced this? it's no big deal just a little irritating!

Secondly, I am shortly going on a long haul flight and am going to need a lot of battery power. Doesn't matter if the unit has to be off while battery charging back up. Anyone seen anything like a backup battery pack, or a remote re-charger etc? Any clues?!

( suppose you could always power up from your USB.... providing you have laptop access ? )
