Channard wrote:When I first read this thread, I thought .. 'Hang on.. didn't Grundig go bankrupt?' I was sure they did, as I used to have one of their tellies and found out while I was looking for info in it. Turns out they did go bankrupt and their name and assets were bought, some time later, by the hilariously named 'Arçelik' group. Who also own 'Beko' and 'Thompson'.
When I've been looking into the group that own Grundig I've found that it's now the 'Alba' group, maybe it's the same?ROCK:staradmin0 -
Paultoon - Be wary of that, Mine came delivered by Amtrak, unless they are using different couriers for different areas, but that would suprise me as they will probably have a national agreement?ROCK:staradmin0

Ordered my player, and arrived 1st thing this morning via courier.
Eagerly opened the well sealed box and.................
Thing was smashed up! Don't believe it! The back panel was in bits, black plastic side pieces warped and cracked. It looks like it's suffered from the battery bulge. The back panel will not close against the unit, battery stops it. It seems as if the battery has bulged when packaged, causing all the plastic to literally tear open.
And guess what? no customer services today. Sent an email as this whole experience is pretty damn crap. The worst thing is that if they say I have done it by dropping or something ridiculous I'll hit the roof!
This is exactly what happened to my unit. See post 311 above. This stuff is !!!!!!. I usually never buy anything that is much cheaper than whats available in the market. So here we have a product selling for under £100 and the equivalent products are selling for close to £250. I sincerely regret getting excited. I wonder when I will hear from them. They are not exactly well known for customer service though I must admit that the returns label was sent promptly to me.0 -
i dont think it is crap the original price was £350 you have just been unlucky

Still no joy from Grundig regarding the missing delivery - laughable really - they can't get through to their own dispatch department, and haven't been able to for two days. Can't provide a tracking number as the dispatch dept have it. And couldn't put me through to anyone else who could help.
I still think it's a bargain bit of kit, but not if it doesn't turn up! If no joy tomorrow I'll have to give in and get a refund I think (or more likely be told I can't have a refund, so have to get on to the credit card company). Grrrr...0 -

Sorry to see you have had a problem but this item is a long way from being !!!!!!. Lots appear to have been bought by people on this thread with no problems. Four people I know have also bought this device after seeing mine. Not one has had a problem with it. Infact the only issue seems to be with the couriers. On my device so far I have
25 albums
over 20 hours of video (from DVD, downloaded, and straight from the TV)
About a hundered photos
My point is that despite some peoples dissapointment, I still think this remarkable value and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.:o0 -
chalkywhytebluesband wrote:imho - when connected to the computer via usb all that I get is the "docking" logo, same as you. This is not a problem. When docked, you can transfer files from your computer to the Grundig by opening My Computer and click on the drive shown as PMP "I". This opens the Grundig HDD and shows Data, Image, Music, Movies and System folders.
Hi everyone]
I have been reading the threads on this and finally decided to buy one, which arrived today. Its not for the faint hearted thats for sure trying to fathom it out but your posts on here are helping.
My problem is that I attached it via usb to my pc and its get the same problem as mentioned above but the suggested solution hasnt worked. I have a fiarly fast system with Windows XP sp2 which picks up any other usb devices no problem . . but although I get the USB Connected on the Grundig screen (and cant get past that) nothing is showing up on the pc . . tried adding new device, device wizard etc . . its just not there . . any help would be appreciated. Maybe a petition to Grundig for updated firmaware is needed here . . .
I've been trying all afternoon and dissapointed as you can imagine :-(
Cheers, Jan0 -
Made some progress . . . I had been removing the usb connector from the pc and plugging it back in again with no repsonse. Just removed the usb from the Grundig this time and pc has found it . . at last!
Still have the 'USB connected' on the grundig screen and cant get past it with buttons or stick, but at least now I can transfer stuff as suggested . .phew
I will be keeping this site open to learn as I go, thanks for all the helpful posts so far.

it seems to be that you have to push the usb connector quite firmly into the Grundig otherwise the PC does not see the device.0

Jan :-)
When it's connected to a PC the device goes into 'hard-disk' mode and will ignore almost all the buttons.
It sounds like it's behaving correctly now.0
