I once bought a "refurb" compaq laptop and the battery had zero juice in it. Being an inquisitive type I took it apart, as I had read that "with care" lion packs can be rebuilt. (except no company will do it on health and safety grounds, i.e. insurance)

The lion cells were venting gas and the sealed packs surrounding the metal cans and chemicals were bulging out.

Knowing of the explosive nature of lion cells they went straight out of the house.

I would guess you have a bulging lion cell in your gadget. But this is just an educated guess. It may have broken the sealed packet and vented some gas (what gas I don't know), thus deflating.

    Cheers

Just wanted to say that i can't fault this thing. it has so far played everything i've thrown at it. Xvid, Divx, Avi, Mpg. I've recorded off TV, DVD and Tivo. Plays all my MP3s. Photos likewise. and have used for transporting programmes between comps. Battery lasted 5 days with varied used on each day. but at least 3 hrs movies and about 7 hrs MPs's and Photo viewing. Easy to use, nice cradle sharger and also have used it when downloading movies to then show them on my TV as when i burn DVD's there is a lag between sound and picture.

    An awesome buy allround.

  • Hi fellow bargain hunters
This is my 1st visit (what a great site this is), but im afraid im not at all clued up when it comes to techno stuff (i havent got a clue what all this Xvid, Divx, Avi, Mpg stuff means) and I need some advice. I did purchase the player a couple of days ago mainly for music and think its a fantastic for the price ,but I need some advice please .Im transfering dvd and tv ok to the player, but when I try to copy mp3s the error box on my pc appears and stops the transfer usually in the middle of an album saying "cannot copy ; cannot find the specified file; make sure you specify the correct path and file name:. The copying ends at that point. Im really new to Pcs and this sort of thing so if any one can advise what to do or if its just me or a dodgy player. please advise this sad novice as i dont want to send the player back...also I have all my music stored in windows media player, and cannot get the player to synch. Again am I just missing something .... helppppppppp

lufc72,I never got any of my music from windows media player,it never worked for me.I just went in to my music folder on the computer and dragged it in that way.
When it says it cant copy, think its something to do with the recording,i had 2 cds that wouldnt copy over.
  • thanks imho for the reply
the unit has also froze on me a couple of times and the dvd playback is really jumpy and unwatchable after playing for a few mins . so im sending it back for a replacment ...., unless anyone can sugest a resonable machine for around the same price.....thanks again .

lufc72,Oh thats a shame .Have you gone into the settings and formatted it ? It will put it as when you first bought it.Worth trying that, to see if that makes it work better for you.
Maybe trying to put on the music that didnt want to go on to it, has some how messed it up.
I put Data into the music file once and the whole thing froze on me
  • OK, fairly annoyed with Grundig this morning.............

Ordered my player, and arrived 1st thing this morning via courier.
Eagerly opened the well sealed box and.................

Thing was smashed up! Don't believe it! The back panel was in bits, black plastic side pieces warped and cracked. It looks like it's suffered from the battery bulge. The back panel will not close against the unit, battery stops it. It seems as if the battery has bulged when packaged, causing all the plastic to literally tear open.

And guess what? no customer services today. Sent an email as this whole experience is pretty damn crap. The worst thing is that if they say I have done it by dropping or something ridiculous I'll hit the roof!

OK, fairly !!!!ed off with Grundig this morning.............
........ It seems as if the battery has bulged when packaged, causing all the plastic to literally tear open. NOT IMPRESSED!

And guess what? no customer services today. Sent a rather snotty email as this whole experience is pretty damn crap. The worst thing is that if they say I have done it by dropping or something ridiculous I'll hit the roof!

    ARGH!

I can appreciate this has been really frustrating for you.... I would probably be just as ****ed off.....

I know this may not really help.. ...... but cannot for one minute imagine a company as big as GRUNDIG doing this deliberately..... the kit is probably one of the few unfortunate ones .... many very happy users on here....

Just a tip ( if I may be so brave ! ) .... I never send snotty emails when I m mad.... I wait till the following day, coz I know I'll regret what I said, and if I were on the receiving end, would not be going out of my way to help !.....

mistakes happen.... try to chill... .Im sure they'll sort it....

Good Luck.... when you get it sorted ... you'll be well impressed....;)
