I'm very seriously wanting to buy one of these, but i want it for long-haul travelling on flights. How long does the battery actually last when watching video?
Also, is there anywhere that sells accessories for it? i was thinking of getting a second battery or back up pack?
1 more thing, can you charge the player off the usb? does it have a similar charging point to an archos, or does it have a really weird specific socket? i have seen 'universal' battery packs that plug into usb points, and that have different charging adapters.
any answers massively appreciated!!
When plugged inot the PC via usb the cherge light come on so i suppose this means it is getting power so is a yes to that one. battery lasts for about 4hours max for movies...music i dont know but assume if you turn the screen off while the music is going will last for ages.
Somebody mentioned that it was possible to upgrade the hard dirve. I think it depends on wherer the firmware is stored. if it is store on the hard disc then you would have to first copy this to your new hard disc if possible or it maybe that you just pop a new one in and format it???0 -

http://www.kjglobal.co.uk/acatalog/DivX_Player_2.5__HDD.html
which does pretty much the same thing and you have to buy the 2.5" HDD for this, I bought a 100gig one for £50 (so it cost more)
Also the grundig has the additional features of a portable Screen / MP3 player, it truely is a bargain.
did you know you can also upgrade the HDD in this grundig (if you take it apart it is just a 2.5" laptop HDD inside.)
hey dude i think you want to get stronger glasses...this unit takes a 1.8" hard drive...gonna be a tighht fit to squeeze a 2.5" drive in there...:rotfl:0 -
has anybody actually rang grundig yet to see if there are going to be any more firmware updates...or even if they might release the code for somebody to tinkle with??0

Hi
I've just got one of these Grundig last week, but have been having difficulties connecting it to my PC. Once plugged in through USB, Windows XP tells me that the USB device is "malfunctioning". Whenever it does get connected it won't work because of "code 10". I tried Microsoft's site but all the said is that the driver needs updated but I thought this is a Plug-and Play device. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Blimey Grundig just answered a email i sent to them on 4/01/07 so they do reply, just takes them time to do it.
So if anyone wants to email to see if there is a frimware update.I am away in a few days for 3-4 months ,so its not worth me emailing,i am keeping away from computers for all that time .0 -
My grundig's already broken. In the most spectacular fashion too. First the back part started to bulge. It kept increasing for about 4 days until I thought the units gonna explode. Then it started to go back in until everything started to look normal. However, now there is a hard disk noise which means that the bulge miracle has caused some damage. Most bizarre. Got on the phone to grundig who promptly sent me a returns label. Dont know whats going to happen. I certainly didnt drop it or anything. Lets see.
All in all I wouldnt recommend the product as I would give it a 1 out of 10 reliability rating despite the good features/price.0 -
yezdi.Lets wait and see what Grundig say about the problem. As i far as i know you are the only person with this problem.
Good for Grundig to send you out a returns label0
