We are now in the house! Although we haven't moved in as such yet! OH and his brother are tiling the bathroom today so taking a little time out to pop onto here! I feel so guilty though so i'll have to be quick.
The house tour went really well everyone seemed to love the house which was nice!
I think the whole money saving may go out the window this month, I'm hoping to get most of the work done through August and start on saving money again in Sep.
Although I have the cash-back from Quidco £85 which I am really tempted to put towards our first overpayment. But there's so much to do with the house I don't want to go short, and OH needs a new car soon, so it's tricky.
We have striped the main bedroom of the delightful black and white striped wallpaper, unfortunately the walls are terrible so will need to be plastered by a professional.
Have stripped the bathroom out completely, and managed to get the horrible chip board off the walls, we have started to fill the wall and sand in the bathroom so saving paying to plaster this too. OH and brother have plumbed in the new bathroom yesterday and hopefully can tile most of it today.
I've spent yesterday weeding the garden it's taking forever it's in a bit of a state. May continue this today.
Was going to change my address at a few companies, sort through my paper work and try to sort out a monthly budget now I have some more accurate figures.
It's getting there it's a slow process but it will look nice when its done.:D
The new house location is great, I can just walk into the highstreet now, yesterday I went to the charity shops (walked saving petrol!) got myself a lovely decorative vase for the house for £1.75! :T
So yes I better get on and do something useful!
Good luck with the money saving people!

All sounds very positive, and as though you are making it into somewhere you can really love. I'm in a similar position - I gave in to the temptation to OP £25 this month, but really I need to keep all my money for sorting the house out, and wait to OP until the work is over and has been paid for. Just remember, money spent on doing your bathroom or whatever, is money towards a mortgage-free and habitable house, just as much as OPs are.
Thanks for the messages and for not making me feel so guilty about not making OP! I think you are all right wait until we are both settled and the money is more stable it's so hard to keep tabs on it all! I am noting it all down trying to stick to budget where we can.
Sorry I haven't been able to catch up with your dairy Cath I'm sneaking on here where OH isn't looking!
Good luck with your house decorating too Lois:T
See you soon! xxxx

Me and OH haven't stopped over the past three weeks, 12 hour days constantly. Very silly really as we have both got ill, I have an annoying cold thing which is getting on my nerves now!
Oh has gone back to camp end of summer leave, so I'm back to being a single lady in the week, pretty rubbish! Can't wait for him to get out of the army but anyway shouldn't grumble could be worse.
The house is coming along, we have almost finished decorating the bathroom, we have put in a complete new suite just need to add paint now.:D
We have stripped the bedroom of the lush black and white wall paper. It is now painted a apple white (light green) on three of the walls and a lovely rich peakcock colour on one wall. We also have a nice new light fitting. I know It's only a light but it's made such a big difference to the room. Got that for £20 reduced and got my staff dicount on top!:T
We need to decide on all the other colours we want to paint the rest of the house, by next week to take advantage of B&Q's 3 for 2 on paint!
It's getting there slowly but it's looking good. :)OH is depressed everything takes three times as long as you think, but that's just the way it goes I tell him!
I don't think I'll be doing much money saving earning yet but I'm going to try and record all my receipts tonight. I like to know where the money is going and also how much I have saved by using my staff discount.
Will be back on track soon!!!
Hope all is well with everyone! xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It's been a month since we have had the keys for our place!:D We have done loads (well I think so) we have a completely new bathroom, stripped the wallpaper in the humbug room, painted it all. We have been thorough I have even painted the inside of the cupboard! It looks so much better!
The bedroom is Pale green with one, lovely deep green wall which was a little devil to paint!
Oh and tidied the garden, re felted and painted the shed!:D
This week we have chosen the carpet and sofa and paid for it, big ouch! At least that's done and that's paid for. I just can't wait to move in now!
OH has gone back to work, I hate it when he has to go back he works away in the week, I hate Sundays well in today's case Monday.
I'll be back to work soon I can't even think about going back, I checked my e-mails today I missed a staff meeting! I feel so bad I completely forgot! I work at a college and there's hundreds of staff so at least it's not a small staff meeting. But still bad start little Miss! I need to get my back to work head on!
Got lots to do this week with the house, and I need to get OH something for his birthday in a couple of weeks!
In some ways I'm looking forward to getting back to work getting into a bit of a routine. Get back onto MSE.:T
Quick update, hope everyone is good.:)

It's that time of year again when all the kids go back to school, I'll be back to work very soon! I had an e-mail yesterday with my hours luckily I have 21 hours already which is pretty good. I have to go into work today to find out what I'm doing etc.
I cleaned out my e-mails today and sorted through my folders so I feel quite organized! Almost ready to get back to work but not quite!
Work on the house is still ongoing, everything seems to take so long, and I've really lost motivation now. I've been at my parents all morning and I'll stay here till I have to go into work get my new timetable etc, then drag myself round the house later for a couple of hours. It just seems to be one step forward two steps back right now. Anyway must not grumble it could be much worse.
Today I'm going to try and sort out what I'm going to do this week. Be good to start looking for jobs again really.
I need a bit of a push and maybe the house fairies to visit whilst I'm away!:D
Hope everyone is well and tucked away indoors away from this wind!

I expected to be back Monday but was asked if I could come in tomorrow which is fine although in helping in A level Law, english and English Lit god help me! I'm an arty girly I don't usually sit still so hope I won't be too bored/:p
Quite nervous to be back at work think I'm already for it.
My timetable's been updated and I'm now on 24 hours a week with more to be added which is good I suppose pay off that mortgage sooner!
Talking about mortgages we have made out first payment! It can only get better from here (hopefully!)
Can't believe christmas is almost round the corner! As soon as I've got my first pay check I need to start saving for pressies, my car insurance MOT etc due in Nov. Although I still would like to overpay and save a little for a rainy day.
It will all be fine Im sure!
Right I'm off to chill out for the night.
