"2. Is for Club Peak membership only, and can not be transferred to any other membership category."

This also put me off - If I join LAF today I can negotiate a 6 month term and I would only pay for off-peak membership which is stacks cheaper than peak.

If I take the free 6 months I will then have another 6 months of expensive peak membership to pay.

I am convinced LAF will hold you to a 12 month agreement as it is only the FREE membership that is cancelled if you stop paying AXA - to me that isn't a convenient 'opt out' - it just means they will start asking you to pay instead.

looks like they have extended the offer!!!

    7. Is available to new AXA PPP healthcare members paying premiums for a full years' membership of an AXA PPP healthcare policy, incepting before or on 28 February 2007.

    8. The free LA Fitness membership will be cancelled if the AXA PPP healthcare policy is cancelled at any point in the first six months of membership.

This is really ambiguous! It implies that you have to pay for the full year to benefit from the six months free but then says that if you cancel the policy in the first six months (and therefore do not have a full year) you lose the gym membership. I'm still nervous about having to have a direct contract with LA Fitness (who normally require a minimum one year commitment) and the implications of breaking it after six months.

Could whoever made the original post/article get clarification from AXA/LA Fitness? I couldn't get a straight answer from AXA and LA Fitness didn't return my call! Thanks!

Me and my partner have taken up the 6 months free LAF Membership. My partner has received his membership card in the post and had no problems, and not paid or signed anything to LAF. He did however have to keep calling AXA and LAF and be a pest.

I am in the process of pestering them as I called them on 21st Dec and took out a policy but have not heard anything about my free membership. I have called AXA a few times on 0800 454 080.

Today I have been told that every Tuesday LAF get a list from AXA, of customers to call. I have also previously been told that LAF should be in touch with you 10 days after the policy has been taken out but with Christmas and high demand etc etc............

I was given LAF Head Office Number 0207 366 8071, give them a call and ask where your Membership Card is!!??

    Hope this helps

    Many Thanks Lyndsey :o
  • Im not risking this.......its too much of a grey area.
  • I have just received my membership card in the post.

I spoke to my local gym who looked up my membership number and they said my membership is valid until July 2007 (didn't catch the exact day).

La Fitness have none of my bank details so I can just use this for six months and when it is finished, it is finished. I haven't signed a DD agreement with LA Fitness so they have no way of taking money from me!

Beauty of it is that my local LA Fitness is 30 seconds walk from my office! No excuses! :)
