that happened to me so i phoned up and they told me to create another account over the phone. I did this and then ended up with 2 accounts with them.

Anyone got any where with the Gym membership yet?

I phoned to chase my cancellation confirmation and was told that they had had a re-think. the free gym membership would be the first 6 months and nothing would need to be paid upfront.

It sounds like LAF will ask for a 12 month contract and what I don't trust is LA Fitness allowing you to cancel after 6 months. (If I joined directly I can negotiate a 6 month contract.)

Its too late and too shabby for me to go back to them.

i took a print screen shot of their terms and conditions

    one of their conditions says

"The free LA Fitness membership will be cancelled if the AXA PPP Healthcare policy is cancelled at any point in the first six months of membership."

surely therefore that means that you cant be tied into a 12mth contract otherise they would be breaking this condition!

Anyone else able to shed some light on this??? Im still hanging on from cancelling hoping i might be able to get it sorted!

I had the same screen print - but I was worried that yes - the LA Fitness will be cancelled - but you have to pay £xxx because it has been cancelled in the first 12 months.

This cancellation clause WILL be on the LAF contract - as it is their standard terms. The question will be does the screen print Trump the signed contract?

That clause is to protect them not you ...

So you can't cancel the contact in month one - not have to pay another 5 months to AXA and still get 6 months of free gym.

Alas it means if you cancel in month one - then you will have to pay 11 months to LA Fitness

Be nice if someone important could find out whats happening. I didn't sign up. If it works out - I will be annoyed I didn't join up but pleased for all of you.

    Good luck

looks like they have extended the offer!!!

    http://www.axappphealthcare.co.uk/body/html/offers/lafitness/terms.htm

in the terms now it says

    1. Is available at all LA Fitness clubs nationwide (exluding South Kensington).

    2. Is for Club Peak membership only, and can not be transferred to any other membership category.

    3. Is not available in conjuntion with any other offer.

    4. A £25 admin fee is applicable on all memberships, payable to LA Fitness on acceptance of application.

    5. Is available only to those aged 18 and over.

    6. Is available to the policyholder and one other adult named on the AXA PPP healthcare policy.

    7. Is available to new AXA PPP healthcare members paying premiums for a full years' membership of an AXA PPP healthcare policy, incepting before or on 28 February 2007.

    8. The free LA Fitness membership will be cancelled if the AXA PPP healthcare policy is cancelled at any point in the first six months of membership.

    9. AXA PPP healthcare reserves the right to alter the terms of the offer or withdraw it if required by circumstances reasonably beyond its control.

    10. Subject to availability.
  • Do we cancel or not then?
