    Great offer!

I'm very tempted to go for this as I'm going to be starting a new job in Canary Wharf in Jan where gym fees are sky high. However, I think my new job will be providing private medical insurance as part of the package - does this exclude me from the offer or cause any problems? I'm generally healthy and don't foresee needing to claim.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
  • no LA fitness in bradford..
It is better to regret something you have done than something you haven't.....

benjus, i was thinking the same thing... my job already provides private medical insurance, but I would like to sign up to the axa/lafitness loophole solely for the gym membership... any insurance experts out there who can tell us if this would cause any negative issues?
  • If you are just signing up to get the gym membership does the information you supply to get the quote still have to be strictly 100% accurate if you've got no intention of making a claim anyway?

Obviously if you told them you had not been to the doctor in the last 12 months (but you had) and you made a claim they would find this out and void the claim I guess.

Can any legal/insurance experts confirm if it is fraudulent or illegal to do this or would this only be the case in the event of making a claim??
  • I like the sound of this offer, but when I got a quote for the AXA health insurance (following your instructions to get the cheapest quote - i.e. Assure, pay monthly, £500 excess and no extras) it came out at £23.59 per month despite the fact I am a 27 non-smoking male with no medical conditions. How is it possible to get quotes from as low as £11 per month? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Mine came through at around the same amount which works out about the same as my current gym membership (once I've factored in the £25 "admin" fee). My profile is much the same as yours and I too was surprised it wasn't closer to the £11 mark (but this quoted figure was for a female). I guess females are considered less risky then!!

I guess there must also be some premium for living in a built up city too - my quote was based on London.
  • Did you make sure to select Assure 6 Choice?

Ooh wish I'd seen this sooner but I just joined a gym 3 weeks ago that I'm paying £43 a month for, and that's off peak so only until 5pm weekdays, no weekends, and doesn't have squash courts which id really like, and the LA fitness one does! :( I can't believe the difference in price!

Thanks for that tip - it comes down to £16 with that!! I thought it was a bolt-on rather than an alternative. Bargain!
  • I changed jobs last month and have been unable to visit my local Canons gym that I attained via Pru health.
I have noticed there is a LA fitness 10 minutes away from my office so I'll be swapping one great deal for another.
Unlike last time I intend on massaging the truth to obtain the lowest premium and I have been quoted £19 a month for a 26yo non-smoking female.
I have noticed your weight plays a part in their calculations so if you knock a stone off, you may see a difference.:j
Third time lucky on WW I hope :j
