My profile is much the same as yours and I too was surprised it wasn't closer to the £11 mark (but this quoted figure was for a female). I guess females are considered less risky then!!
I guess there must also be some premium for living in a built up city too - my quote was based on London.
I am a 25 yr old female living in london no smoking no health probs, ticked the £500 excess and the no claims thing and it came out at £10.48 per month, I think its definitely a male thing!0 -
I was thinking about doing this as well, as my gym membership ends at the end of this month. But does LA Fitness not bind you for 12 months? I used to go to LA Fitness and wasn't very impressed with their cancellation policy etc.
I did a quote and i think it came up £16So if i can get around the cancellation i will definately consider it though!

I was also considering this as am currently an LA Fitness member paying £52 per month but needing to cancel in 6 months anyway... but when I rang AXA they said that their policy couldn't be cancelled after 6 months, you were bound in for a 12 month contract... anyone else found this?0

The original tip article said to select the monthly payment option so it could be cancelled easily. I would have thought that if you haven't made a claim and just stop paying they can't do much about it. If you've claimed then they could demand the rest of the year's worth of premiums. I think this is how it would work with a car insurance premium.
These are only my thoughts though - what do the Terms and Conditions say?0 -
my friend rang up. they said that if you dont cancel within the 1 month then you have to keep to a 12 month contract.
is this true?
anyone call up too?0 -
I'm really keen to take one of these companies up on the offer for the 6 months free gym membership but despite living in the Wwelsh Capital we don't have any of the three gyms that are covered by the companies.
Does anyoine know of any other schemes of this type that might cover Cardiff?
Cheers,

According to the original article:
"After the initial six months offer runs out, the gym membership cost will shoot up to the regular price; but it is possible to cancel at any point without further charges (as long as you are paying monthly). Those in it just for the gym; cancel the policy before the seventh payment is taken and you’ll have nabbed six months of very cheap membership."
So it looks like you don't have to stay for 12 months otherwise it wouldn't be a moneysaving tip!!0 -
yeh i have read already... jus my friend has called up AXA... they say u can only cancel gym/health insurance during the 1st month...
anyways ill prob call up tomorrow morning to double check.
btw are LA fitness really that expensive? £60... as high as holmes place0 -
I am a bit concerned on weather i can cancel my membership after 6 months or wait till after 12.
Also i read in their terms and cons that you have to pay £25 admin charge, which would bring the cheapest quote from£11 up to £15. I haven't seen this mentioned on this site.0 -
Has anyone managed to acertain whether the policy can be cancelled withn the first six months?Third time lucky on WW I hope :j
