Unoffical Existing Customer Balance Transfers

.........transfer the £5000 on 0% until July 2010 and the £800 on 6.3% LOB with a 1.25% fee. Luckily have managed to find the cash to clear the £800 within a month/6 weeks leaving me until July to make a dent in the £5k. ....... :T
I do not think you should pay the £800 at all. The way most credit card companies would always allocate any payments to the cheapest debt first. Which would mean your first payment of £800 would reduce your balance which is at 0%. And you would still be saddled with the debt which is at 6.3% LOB until you clear the full £5000 first.:beer::beer:0 -

Oh yes them and their little tricks  I just plan to transfer the £5k to the 0% and will throw the £800 at the other card! Thanks0 -
I can't believe it!!! I called the number above and said I wanted to close my Barclaycard and they did, just like that, no asking me why or anything!!!!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Barclaycard weren't very accommodating to me either. I didn't ask to close my account but they wouldn't offer me any deals at all. I was a bit miffed TBH because I've had a CC with them forever. They probably would have closed mine to if I'd asked them.
I was hoping not to have to apply for a new card yet to save on searches but I've got no choice now!
What are the best 0% BT cards around at mo, anyone know? Best go check my credit files first and see where I stand lol“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Which option is best depends, to some extent, on which cards - besides Barclaycard - you have at the mo or have held recently.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

I've experienced exactly the same - a couple of years back Lloyds TSB did exactly this to me.
Earlier this year, Barclaycard tried exactly the same. The CSA said, "No problem sir, we are just closing the account now".
I quickly jumped in with, "Are you not going to put me through to retentions ?"
The CSA said "No sir, we can do this for you".
I said, "OK, I'll leave it open for now".
Would appear that with the Credit Crunch Barclaycard are not so keen on keeping customers, I previously had an 18 month 0% repeat deal with them. Hmmm how times have changed0 -
Yes, indeed (sigh). Barclaycard Cashback card (Mastercard) offered me 0% on BTs for 12 months. A 2.5% BT fee applies
Nothing doing on my B'card Platinum (Visa) though.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Bad luck Chameleon, but thanks for posting.

I was going to check out the CC board but clicked on main site by mistake and right there staring me in the face was the Virgin 9mth 0% BT with NO FEE offer!!!
Applied but said they might need more info, presumably as BC is still on credit files and is still showing a balance despite being cleared in May grrrrr so they'll let me know!
I closed an MBNA card a while back now so not sure if that will jeopardise the application. Applied and was refused Halifax, Cap One and Coop back in about March so will leave those alone.
Currently have Ulster Bank Gold with a BT on it and LTSB Advance (2nd card now) with zero balance and good limit but saving it for a bigger BT I need to do in Jan.
Also got Tesco and both Egg cards which I use for shopping. The Egg Visa currently has zero balance but don't think there are any offers for existing customers. Last one was 6.9% which I cleared off in 3mths.
The only other one I can see I might have a chance with is Abbey (in branch) as I have savings there. Might pop in tomorrow to ask. Unless anyone can think of any I've missed
Oh, don't have accounts with RBS/Natwest/HSBC to apply for those.
Closed an M&S card last year, worth re-applying?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Have you considered the BOI's Post Office card? 12 months at 0% is currently available to new customers on balance transfers made in the first 3 mths. There's a 2.98% BT fee. Also, 5 months at 0% on new balance transfers requested in the month of your 1st and 2nd anniversary

Capital One just offered me 0% BT for 9 months (3% fee) on the card I've held with them for a few years - I didn't even ask. Is this an isolated experience or does Martin need to revise his Existing Customer BT Offers table comment that their promos are limited to new customers? :money:
Also, intriguingly, other existing credit cards are also throwing unsolicited 0% offers to me;
MBNA = 0% until May 2010 in Aug & Sep for each PURCHASE over £250
Halifax = 0% BT for 9 months (3% fee - this one was 2 months back)
I'm not sure if it is a change in their tactics, or if it is a reaction to the drop in my fixed rate mortgage balance due to transferring money previously in ISAs to it. Anyway, no credit crunch here... :T0
