Hello this is my first time posting here but visited the website many times and love the newsletter in E-Mail

I recieced a letter yesterday the 6th March from Halifax offering a balance transfer rate of 2.95% for the life of the balance with a 3% transfer fee, I am an existing customer with them.

This seems a very good deal in the current climate has anyone else recieved this offer??

    Thanks for reading

    John
  • Also received this offer. Not sure whether to take it - I've only just transferred to 0% deal but this APR seems incredibly low.

Decided to ring up and close a few credit cards I don’t use with the following resulting balance transfer offers:

HSBC – opened 18 months ago – no offer to retain my custom, just closed account.
Halifax – opened 2 years ago – initial offer either 6.9% LOB or 2.9% for 6 months, both with a 3% fee. After I refused these, they offered 4.94% LOB or 0% for 6 months, both with a 3% fee.
Lloyds TSB Platinum – opened 5 years ago – offered me 0% for 12 months with a 3% fee. As this was their opening gambit, I tried hard to get the fee either reduced or capped, but they wouldn’t budge. They gave me a reference number and 14 days if I wanted to call back and take the offer up.

Just had some Sky Card cheques through the post...0% for 9 months with a 2.99% fee.

The last lot were for 4.9% with a 2.99% fee so at least the figures are heading in the right direction, lol.

Hi, Just cancelled my Tesco Clubcard Credit Card and was offered the following:
    BT Deals:
    1.) 1.9% 2.5% fee
2.) 6.9% life of balance no fee
Or Purchases at 7.9% 6 months
Told me I could reapply for a Tesco Credit card as a new customer in 8 months.

    Cheers,

    Hey everyone,
So I had originally got the Barclaycard Platnium for the 1.5% cashback on fuel purchases.
Decided it's not worth keeping so I went to cancel.
They offered me 12 Months BT at 0% and as a loyal and "good" customer they would half the BT fee to 1.25%.
Also if I wanted them to increase my credit limit they initially do a "internal" check and if all's ok won't need to make a search on my file which is nice to know!

Been quite happy with them really so I'm going to hold on to it until I need a BT deal and they said it's more than likely I'll beable to get the same deal again!

Oh yes, as a side note, tried to cancel my M&S Card and they won't let me until i receive a statement showing £0 Balance. Will be interesting to see what if anything they offer!

    Cheers,

  • I have been checking out some unofficial offers with three empty cards that I have.

Lloyds TSB - had two cards for about two years but all they would offer me was 3.5% for 6 months with a 3% fee and wouldn't confirm if any new offer was coming out, when I asked to cancel they didn't seem particularly bothered and agreed. Still, it reduces my available credit by about £12K so should help with future applications.

RBS - had for one year. Originally stated there was nothing so asked to cancel, the bloke started saying there maybe something in the next few weeks however I insisted. He the transferred me to the "cancellation" team who offered me 6 months at 0% for 3% fee, I tried to extend the timeframe but they wouldn't budge further. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick though.

    Happy hunting

I was offered 6 months at 0% with 3% BT fee when I phoned Mint recently, intending to cancel. When I persisted, the cancellation team waived the 3% fee.

Obviously, for this to work, you have to be prepared to go ahead and close the account, if you don't get the offer you'd hoped for.

Just phoned up Virgin to cancel card and hoping for a lovely BT offer - and got - a closed account... Whoops - although they did say I could reapply anytime to take advantage of the current 16 month BT offer... Bit freaked out now - it had a lovely large credit limit that I was using for stoozing!
