For the first time EVER in my many years with Barclaycard, I don't have an existing customer balance transfer offer on my account .

Not that I want/need it at the moment, I just look out of curiosity occasionally when I log in to check the account. Oddly, my credit file is probably in the best shape it's ever been at the moment :undecided.

Signs of credit being harder to get again maybe?

Just checked and I've got 0% until May 2013 on Visa (was previously 6.9% LOB) but nothing currently offered on Mastercard.

I was contacted by MBNA a week or so ago to notify me that I had a balance transfer promotional offer on my account. The following was offered:

'10.9% until 5 October 2013 on all Balance Transfers completed before 30 November 2012
A transfer handling fee will apply of 3.5% of the transaction (minimum of £3.00)'

I don't know much about credit card rates but I didn't think this sounded very good?

I was hoping eventually they'd give me another pop at the 18 months 0% interest rate like I had initially when I applied for the card. I had borrowed £3,500 but paid it off well before the 18 months was up.

Sorry can you clarify, Halifax are known to have given existing customers a 0% money transfer to their current account?? Any more info, how long did you get that for and what kind of fee did they charge?

If that adds up then it's potentially awesome news...

It was one of their standard offers of 9 months that I keep getting on all my halifax cards but these are normally only for Balance Transfer.

The offer was 0% for 9 months with 3% BT Fee.

but they only did it on one of my cards and would not offer it on the others, so I am not sure how it works in terms of wether it is just system generated based on their criteria or something like that. But not complaining as it allowed me to shift balances coming to the end of their BT offers off their own cards.

Oh well, mine's a Clarity and apparently they never have offers. C'est la vie... But they did confirm they do that deal occasionally so it definitely still exists, might be useful to some people.
  • Virgin increased my limit by £3k at the end of October and within a week offered me 0% until December 27th 2013 on balance and money transfers. Fee of 3.5 or 4% depending on which option I took.

I already have a 2k balance on the card until June 2013 at 0% :)

Can't remember the last time I actually paid the standard interest rate with them!

Barclaycard offered me 0% for 6 months but i only have a few hundred to play with as I took them up on another offer recently when they also increased my limit :j
