I know this sounds dim, what if I have several CC debts with a few different companies and I want to switch some balances between them to save on the APR? Can I phone up and ask if they can offer any promotional % rate for the new balance being transferred over as I would "really like to stay"?
Anyone got any tips, I have debts on CC's with the following:
HSBC
Halifax
Barclays
Post Office0 -
Halifax do offer promotions if you ask. I think the same with barclays.:beer::beer:0

Regarding Barclaycard.Normally spend a bit on it and then they offer you a promo BT hoping you would do the BT and then pay standard interest on your purchases
This seems to be true.
I have a platinum BC with zero balance for 5 months, and the best BT offer was 0% 6mths 2.9% fee.
I spent £70 last week and now the offer has changed to 0% til 1/4/13, 2.9% fee.
A bit better but still not good enough to tempt me, though. Some much better offers from BC seem to be about. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Just enquired at Barclays, I have one of their 6.9% for life cards which doesn't have much room to add to balance transfer and no apparent offers on. They came back with 6.9% with a 2.9% fee and they would increase my limit to accommodate the balance transfer.
Also had a look at the new Nationwide, did the online application and I'll be able to get the 0% for 20 months with a max limit of £2.5k. I think I need to overhaul my current cards to see what other options might be available to me!0 -
I get offers from Virgin every other month for 15 month 0% Balance Transfers with 3.5% fee (used to be 3% fee!).
It's great that I can pretty much rely on always having that option for me once my other cards run out on their 0% deals.
My offers are not that regular, but they do tend to do a new offer once I've paid the old one off.0 -
Hi,
I just tried to make a balance transfer with my barclaycard but they said There wasn't any offers available?
Is this because my credit rating is poor??
Thanks

Might be because you are close to your limit?
Give them a ring and ask. I recently found that my account had 3 different offers on it for balance transfers, but only 1 was available online0 -

I have a Barclaycard Platinum with a huge limit that for almost a year they said they had no offers so couldnt balance transfer. It didnt stop them increasing my limit every month even though I wasnt using it and I had 1600 quid on it with an 11K limit. Out of the blue a few months back they sent me a balance transfer offer letter for no fee and at card rate which is 6.8 standard.
Seems with these balance transfers are only an option when they decide its right for them0
