Just paid off my Creation 17 months 0%, rang them up to ask for another one, the lady said they didn't have anything available, so I asked to close it, got put through to closures where they offered me 12 months at 0% (3% fee).

Prior to this I used to just always close cards after the initial 0% offer ended.

Very interesting - I have a Virgin MBNA that I paid off a couple months ago, and don't seem to be getting any more promotions on now. Shall I go ahead and close it (or threaten to close?) if I don't need the additional credit? Does anyone have experience closing and re-opening Virgin MBNA cards?

Virgin / mbna - if you have a decent sized balance to transfer (££££s) they may offer you one on the phone if you ask, even if they haven't offered one on a statement yet.
That's what happened to me recently.

Last month the 0% BT ended on my Barclaycard, but the existing customer 6.9% was showing as available, so, I switched the outstanding balance to my Nationwide Select card, now today, Barclaycard online is saying that it does not support a BT from this card.

    Any ideas?

I think that this maybe because the Nationwide Select is a newish card and the systems haven't been updated at Barclaycard. I would give them a ring they maybe able to do the transfer if you speak to them.:)

virgin credit card seems to have reduced number of customers they offer the BT to. I paid off my last BT and called to ask if they had any offer as nothing showed up online.

They could only offer me a BT to other credit card(@5%), not to current acc :(

Just called Virgin, unfortunately nothing they would offer me :(
I had finished my last promo rate a couple months ago, and paid off the full (~8k) balance after that. Went ahead and closed the account, even then the rep didn't seem interested in trying to offer me anything to keep it open. But happy enough to get rid of a ridiculously high interest card, and I guess I can try and re-open after a year and get the intro promo rate again?

    Oh, right!

I thought that perhaps it had blocked the card, because I had moved the old BT to it?

Transferred from Barclaycard to HSBC 23 month 0% deal due to Barclaycard deal coming to an end and Barclaycard account now showing an offer of 0% B/T until November 2012.

Not much use now but hopefully there will be something similar or even better in place should i still need it in 23 months time:)
