Received a letter with my monthly statement offering me 3.9% for a year with a 3% fee. May well take it up as I'll probably finish this off within the year.
  • I've been offered 0% on money transfers or balance transfers (until May 2012) onto a Natwest Gold card I have an existing balance on (paying interest).

Am I correct to think that I could use my remaining balance (which is significantly more than I currently owe) to get a money transfer, and then use this to pay off the existing balance - since higher rate balances have to be paid off first nowadays?

I think this would effectively be the same as doing a balance transfer of my existing balance, onto the same card.
  • Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but just signed up to this site but having difficultly in starting a new thread on the forum trying to ask a question.

Does MBNA offer existing customers offers any more? They used to offer loads.

I know they are trying to withdraw from the market but have they stopped making offers?

Just wondering whether to keep the card in case.

Halifax have offered 6 months 0% on purchases(uptoMay 2012) on one card and 6 months 0% on BT made up to Jan 2012 (to other cards & bank account) 3% fee on another card.

Looks like InsertWittyName was lucky enough to get a better deal of 9 months :(.

    6 months is too short.

Virgin Atlantic, 0% for 13 months on both balance transfers and money transfers.

    2% fee applies for both.
