  • Heard from a very liable source ie a liquidator that one of the high street stores will go on the 22nd Dec, was advised that it was someone I used to shop at and this looks ominous ( my kids are too old for Adams now). Guess i would be keen to go get from the store rather than wait for an order.

    ANY NEWS YET??

got mine yesterday with 6 things missing which was fine but today get invoice in the post with 4 still charged. Customer services were useless - cut me off, put me through to voicemail, then finally got someone sounded like they were reading me a statement then preceeded to moan to me about how busy she was!

Sorry not impressed with that, now office is closed!! It's only 2.00pm!

Iwas just going to phone them looks like will have to wait till next week then. So how do I go about sending some stuff back? Will I have to pay the postage and then they will refund it back to card???
  • Hi Pingua,
You do have to pay to return the items to Adams. If you want exchanges, for example, a different size or completely different item then you will not be charged postage for the replacement items. If you return items because you just don't want them then you get np postage refund. If however there are any faulty items that you return you will get your postage refunded.
    Hope this helps!
  • Got my parcel today, thank goodness, only 1 item out of stock - my daughter will be able to wear either her Dora or Fifi outfits on Xmas Day now.

order came yesturday, was out so hubby collected it today for me.
3 items out of stock, one pressie for ds2 and his Christmas day outfit - top and jeans.
I had ordered the same outfit for ds3 so they could wear the same outfit.

gutted as it's too late to get them an outfit now. Working tomo, hubby working on Sun and i cant face christmas eve shopping with 3 kiddies on my own.... bah!!
Adams already took the money for the whole order so I couldnt even buy anything else. There stupid online account check still showed the whole order as coming ..... bah!!!

I guess it's not all that bad as ds3 can still get to wear the outfit I planned, but ds2 wont have one..... will just have to look thru his stuff he has here, half wish it was the other way round as ds3 has more clothes that ds2 who has sprouted longer legs :)

I am mixed with my feelings now as i got some other bits for a good price but I am PO'd with the results!!

It was nice of mr robb to bring a delivery for a customer and its very impressive, but how about spreading that kind of service to everyone in the company and how about them going all out to help ALL - obviously not suggesting he deliver to everyone.

BAH!!! ranting now but humph ;)

    *eta*
I too feel that a £5 off voucher for a next order doesn't really cut it... it's really just the cost of delivery as someone pointed out. I'm not to hyped about ordering again from adams and maybe £5 off this messed up order would have been better.
how grumpy do I sound??? hmmmm maybe I need an eggnog latte!!
    look after the pennies.....

To say I am not happy is an understatement!!!!

Does anyone know if or when Adams phonelines reopen?

  • Hi again,
I work for Adams and yes the group is up for sale, we only found out at lunchtime today, we were told it is a positive thing and that 'people' are looking to buy into our business by the end of January, as a going concern! As some of you may be aware this has happened to us a few times over the last few years, by 'Fosters' then the 'Sears Group' then Adams stood on their own by 'buying themselves out' in 1999 but in today's climate with supermarket competition, like 'Asda' and 'Tesco's' childrens clothing, it's tough trading on your own, so as we see it, a 'buy out' would inject much needed cash to help us grow and perform to the best of your needs as customers. Also as you may be aware these previous 'buy outs' did not affect any of our jobs as such, no redundancies, no shop closures, 'business as usual'! We want to provide you all with a better product and service so you will want to come back time and again.
The 'Technical' difficuties we experienced this past two weeks due to 'modern technology' and the massive response to our online sale were unprecedented and we really did work round the clock, 24 hours and all last weekend too, to really try to make all of you happy, but like all good intentions, sometimes that is so hard to actually achieve. We really do care about our customers, it was just sooo hard to cope with the literally 1000's of calls, which of course were absolutely justified, with such a small team, we really are new to online shopping! We still have teams working tonight, into the weekend and again at 5am straight after christmas on Wednesday morning to complete the missing items from your orders, to get them to you all as soon as we can.
Sorry that so many of you were disappointed, we will try to make it up to you next time!
I wasn't asked to post any of this onto this forum, I possibly could get into trouble for doing so, but I'm speaking as a parent who understands the diappointment of missing items / orders and customer services who cannot give us the answers we want to hear.
There really are people here at Adams who care about our customers, we just cannot, with all our will put right 'technical faults' that occur at the most inconvenient times, we can only work to try and 'right the wrongs' and soften the blow!
Look out for another massive online sale early in the new year, don't be put off by any disappointing experiences you may have had this time because we have contingency plans in place so this cannot happen again.....we're wise this time!!!
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas holiday!
