I found when the chaos hit my credit card wasn't debited, available credit had been debited beforehand then reimbursed, so I didn't panic. Did you pay by another method?0 -
Just.Myself wrote:Hi again,
I work for Adams and yes the group is up for sale, we only found out at lunchtime today, we were told it is a positive thing and that 'people' are looking to buy into our business by the end of January, as a going concern! As some of you may be aware this has happened to us a few times over the last few years, by 'Fosters' then the 'Sears Group' then Adams stood on their own by 'buying themselves out' in 1999 but in today's climate with supermarket competition, like 'Asda' and 'Tesco's' childrens clothing, it's tough trading on your own, so as we see it, a 'buy out' would inject much needed cash to help us grow and perform to the best of your needs as customers. Also as you may be aware these previous 'buy outs' did not affect any of our jobs as such, no redundancies, no shop closures, 'business as usual'! We want to provide you all with a better product and service so you will want to come back time and again.
The 'Technical' difficuties we experienced this past two weeks due to 'modern technology' and the massive response to our online sale were unprecedented and we really did work round the clock, 24 hours and all last weekend too, to really try to make all of you happy, but like all good intentions, sometimes that is so hard to actually achieve. We really do care about our customers, it was just sooo hard to cope with the literally 1000's of calls, which of course were absolutely justified, with such a small team, we really are new to online shopping! We still have teams working tonight, into the weekend and again at 5am straight after christmas on Wednesday morning to complete the missing items from your orders, to get them to you all as soon as we can.
Sorry that so many of you were disappointed, we will try to make it up to you next time!
I wasn't asked to post any of this onto this forum, I possibly could get into trouble for doing so, but I'm speaking as a parent who understands the diappointment of missing items / orders and customer services who cannot give us the answers we want to hear.
There really are people here at Adams who care about our customers, we just cannot, with all our will put right 'technical faults' that occur at the most inconvenient times, we can only work to try and 'right the wrongs' and soften the blow!
Look out for another massive online sale early in the new year, don't be put off by any disappointing experiences you may have had this time because we have contingency plans in place so this cannot happen again.....we're wise this time!!!
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas holiday!
Hope your hols are good too... & Adams can continue... I have a two year old (clothed brilliantly by yourselves, many thanks) & a 19 year old who I shopped for at Adams too (long time ago).0 -

I think you'll find that the reason for the delay in all the items ordered being posted to people is that Adam's can't get the stuff from the suppliers!!! - apparently one of their insurers ( the guys who back their payments to the suppliers) has already refused Adams credit and they are struggling to get any products without it.
Personally would keep an eye on the shops since they are currently undergoing a massive restructuring at their banks behest and will have to lose a large number of shops to survive. May be some bargains to be had since they need cash flow to keep afloat.0 -
Sorry my question was aimed at do you know who it is that is going into liquidation.
Popped into Adams yesterday. I still have quite a few Nectar vouchers left so the wife had a nose through. Everything was reduced this time and it hadn't been before. When she went to pay the lady was telling everyone to pick something else for £5 and get it for free as a christmas gift from them. She quite happily picked up a dress for our daughter that she had been eyeing up and paid the difference.A banker is someone who lends you an umbrella when the sun is shining, and who asks for it back when it start to rain.0 -
