it may not be all stores that are closing, but my local one has signs in the window saying it is closing down, with up to 75% off - well the reductions are more like 10% at the mo, and thats only on some items

while i was in there, the shop assistant was talking to another store on the phone and they were comparing totals. seems my local stores sales have gone up considerably since they announced they are closing, even though there arent any bargains to be had

HAving looked in companies house website Adams is now owned by Myriad Childrenswear as of 24 October. Myriad are Tu and boots clothing. It may be that the rumours are because of this buy out. What do you think?

Hi just thought I would add my bit . The Croydon branch closed down about a year ago and I was told then that they might be closing alot of non proftable stores, especially those which have outlets in other shops such as Sainsbury's near by. So this rumour is not new ,but my Sutton branch has just had a refurb .
I contacted cs today and they have promised that all deliverys would be despatched to arrive before Christmas. They havn't updated their website tho as they are putting all their resources into despatch . They might do an update overnight.

My order has been replaced before delivery but 3 item s were left off. I checked and they are showing as in stock if i try to reorder them. WHen i phoned the helpline the lady i spoke to didnt know what was happening and just said she would get someone to ring me. They dont appear to have a clue whats going on and she had to ask someone 3 times before she even knew what was going on. She has said someone will ring me back but im not going to hold my breath.

i spoke to an assistant this morning in my local adams about the rumors and she said she had a call this morning from headoffice and that because they so much stock they had to reduce everything, she said that nothing had been mentioned about closing down, i should hope not though as whilst i was standing there an elderly gentleman was buying gift vouchers. is the school clothing reduced as they did not have the little stickers on?

i also managed to phone through to adams this afternoon to confirm if i was still to receive my order before christmas and most of my order has been picked, and i was assured that i should be receiving before christmas, i also pointed out to her about the rumors and this post and that there are a lot of people worrying now, and would appreciate it if they could put peoples minds at rest. shall have to wait and see.

If they will be closing, surely they will wait until boxing day to clear out their stocks!

Like everyone else I have been told it would be posted today or tomrrow but then I was told that last week too!!

Christmas Delivery

Our online business has seen huge sales and as with most online retailers, a cut off date was set to ensure pre Christmas deliveries. This was 9.00am on 16th December.

* At our busiest time we were unfortunately hampered by a systems failure early last week which put back a block of orders.

* With customers top of mind, we thought it best to advise that there might be a problem with delivery pre Christmas, hence the email we sent out on Saturday 16th December.

* We are delighted to say that the system failure has now been rectified and all orders placed before the advised pre 9.00am on the 16th December will be delivered pre Christmas.

* To ease deliveries some orders will come in more than one package, but rest assured you will only be charged for one delivery, we will be picking up any additional delivery charges.

* Just to confirm, any orders post 9.00am on the 16th December cannot be guaranteed as delivery is subject to Royal Mail being able to deliver pre Christmas.

* Hope you will be delighted with your purchases and sorry for any anxiety. Wishing you a Happy Christmas and hope to see you shopping with us again in the New Year!

Hopefully to put your minds at rest a little.

I ordered several items on 16/12/06 and they were all delivered intact this morning. Relieved and satisfied.

Not as fast as Gymboree.com though. I ordered some baby clothes on Friday 15/12/06 and they were delivered this morning - all from the USA!

Contrary to rumours about trading at adams, the business decided to take an aggressive stance in their stores in the run up to Christmans to be in line with many major retailers and to steal a march on competitors.
