British average wage £499/week = 25948 / year
(http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=285)
Average teacher salary ( 2006 - and it won't have reduced)£32200

And remember ; (as yet) it's Final salary' pension not average salary pension so it's based on a figure even higher than this!

I'd like to know where all these teachers who earn that kind of money are.
M6 (highest main pay grade) teachers outside London get £31,552The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Yet again you spout this nonsense about above average pay and conditions. Where the flip do you get your information from, because you need to review your sources?
So, if you don't beleive this figure, what figure are you quoting and where from?0 -
If the "workforce" were clever enough not to be taken advantage of, they would be the employer. As such, they deserve what they get.
If an employer is taking advantage, why would you want to remain working for them?
And in what world would you ever see twenty million employers? :wall:The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
It seems to be only me that is providing sources and figures! You only carp that its rubbish or wrong and never anything to back it up.
So, if you don't beleive this figure, what figure are you quoting and where from?

You mean like:
Average teacher salary ( 2006 - and it won't have reduced)£32200
You need to do your research before relying on such sources. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Take it you are excluding higher paid teachers ( heads, deputy heads, heads of dept etc.) - yep that would lower it.0

Do what?? Where would we be if every single one of, say, the NHS's 1,300,000 employees decided to think 'screw this, I'm going to be the employer! I'm going to be the government!' Or the nearly half a million teachers? Or the 500,000+ civil servants? There are six million public sector workers in this country. They're all going to be the 'employer' are they?! They're all going to be the government!
I've heard some shite on these boards but, jeez, that wins by a long, long way."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Crikey Fluff - I'm almost agreeing with you on this one.
I'm going to lie down:D0 -
If the "workforce" were clever enough not to be taken advantage of, they would be the employer. As such, they deserve what they get.Only the clever few rise above being placed in a position where they can be taken advantage of. If everyone were that clever, we would already have the world you describe.
By your reasoning, the 'clever' rise to the top, and the non-clever, i.e. the 'stupid' people 'deserve what they get'.
Wow! Are you into eugenics too?
When you're ill, or your house catches fire, or your children need educating, I hope you're not going to be too upset by being helped by all these people too 'stupid' to 'rise to be the employer'. :rotfl:"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
