I have started my own business. Don't remember ever saying the private sector have it easy. I know from experience they don't. Just don't see why public sector workers have to pay for the failings of the banking sector.

Why do public sector employees always blame bankers?

You do realise that the running of everything to do with the public sector is extremely inefficient?

the fact that UK PLC has been living well beyond its means for years and some of its crazy policies and subsequent waste has had more impact than the banking sector

Yes, but that's down to poor management. Not the front line worker's fault. We blame bankers because they caused the credit crunch with crazy investments so now everyone has to suffer because the government had to spend god knows how many billions bailing out the banks

Over the years how much money has the government put in to paying for jobs that didn't need to be there, inefficient management, overpaid management, resources that no one uses, and so-on?

Lack of management and sanctions from the government also cause the credit crunch, bankers were allowed to get away with what they did because Labour allowed them to. A majority of the problem also came from America's lending policies.

Not going to argue with that. Completely agree. I'm a teacher and the waste we see with millions spent on strategies and initiatives that just disappear on a political whim disgusts me. But as I say its not the front line workers fault.

Totally agree, and unfortunately that will always be the case!

One of my parents work in education, and still recently they are happy to send her abroad for a week to learn how they deal with SEN in other countries. At a time of cuts does the management still feel this is money well spent?

Listened to a radio 4 money programme about 5 weeks ago and they had an independent actuary who calculated that a public sector pension would cost 35% (yes 35%!) contribution of the salary to buy in a money purchase pension : the extra 3% teachers are being asked to pay doesn't go far.
That is for a "standard" public pension ; god only knows the true cost of police/fire pensions when they can retire after 30 years

I've no sympathy with the public sector workers at all. Where do they think the money will come from? We are taxed to death as it is without paying for their inflated pensions.

Plenty of private sector workers are in unions.

Indeed they are - look at the trains and the underground and buses and ferries.
