Thanks ecoelle. DS1 was 7lb 13 at 13 days late, DS2 9lb 12oz at 12 days late. I was induced with DS2 then ended up with emergency c-section. Although I was fully dilated he was too big to fit in the birth canal. Had 2 growth scans so far. Today the estimated foetal weight was 4lb 10oz so getting big already. I'm having another boy and babies get bigger the more you have!

Surely in cases like mine where baby is showing as being big and a previous large baby has prevented a natural delivery, they should do a c-section as early as possible so the baby is easier to get out?! I can understand them wanting people to wait until 41 weeks in most circumstances but not mine where I cannot give birth naturally to big babies!!!!!

K.. Here you go.. every bit of rubbish they spout at you to stop you attempting a VBAC.. use it to your advantage.. yes it is an American site but the English ones are far less supported statistically. Compare the rates of failure with a trial of labour (TOL) and the 1 in 1100 rate of uterine rupture and throw it in their faces.. Dont get upset get angry they are taking away your right to choose and potentially risking your life and the babys life..

They dont know it is logistically impossible to get to another PCT so tell them that is what you want to do..

Thanks PP I will have a read in a bit. They are not denying me a c-section, they just won't do it until 41 weeks. By then this baby will probably be around 10-11lb!!!!!!!!

But they are denying your right to choose.. and an emergency section is more risky than a planned one putting you both at higher risk of complications and emotional trauma.

Dont guarantee it will be that big.. they dont always get bigger the more you have.. they are not Gods they do not know everything and they do not have all the answers.

Put into it your emotional wellbeing and that of your current children and tell him if he is too lazy to speak to the bigwigs on your behalf you are willing to do it yourself because it is in the best interests of your family to remove the baby earlier.

Ask for a copy of the current info dealt out throughout the PCT.. see if he is actually telling the truth!.. Consultants are not against lying to get exactly what they want.. he probably has holidays booked so doesnt want to book any electives in that week or some other lazyitis!

Hi ladies, well i've had a lovely day with my mum who popped over and made me lunch then helped me make tea so i didn't have to stand too long in the kitchen. She's so excited about being a mamma, can't wait for baby to come, she keeps on about the fact that she's got the mobile now and i can call whenever i want and that if i can hold out til 7th Sep it will be born on her wedding anniversary.

Oh, and i'm really not impressed Elmo! How dare you be so far engaged when i'm not:(

Only kidding, good news for you and hoping that mine will follow suit soon:)

Hey folks, I never had my name in the due date list and only posted a few times but read the thread every day - I was supposed to be due on 11th September but our little girl made a surprise early appearance in the early hours of Wednesday morning - 31st August (luckily school year cut off date here in NI is June!) Had niggles on Monday overnight, then contractions on and off on Tuesday, we went to the hospital about tea time on Tuesday but were sent home around 8pm as the contractions had stopped (doh!) although I was 2-3cm dilated. About 11pm things really started kicking off, my waters broke at 11:30 so we headed back to the hospital at midnight (which was a hell of a drive as we live 40 miles from the hospital and after the waters broke I was getting contractions every 3 minutes!!). Arrived in hospital about 1am and by the time they examined me i was 8-9cm so rather chuffed I managed most of that stage with no drugs at all! I had a remi-fentanyl drip put in - I think people were asking about it a few weeks ago? Well I thought it was great stuff! You press the button and get a shot of it delivered which only lasts a few minutes, but it really took the edge off things. Wasn't allowed to use it for the latter parts of the pushing phase though as it made me a little too dopey and her head wasn't engaged quite right so it was a helluva job getting it out! Took me almost 2 hours of pushing. But she made it safe and sound at 5:20am, 7lbs 7oz. Best thing of all? No stitches. Yay! Good luck girls, it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. But pushing is bloomin hard work!

    Congratulations :T:T:T:T

Has your new addition got a name? well done hun

  • Congratulations thetope even though you have queue jumped lol, hope you are both well :)

I am starting to parp myself, have got a very sore back, legs are killing and have had some pains in my foof and lots of painless BH - OH is just running me a bath and im trying not to think its more than it is ... its probably nothing lol.

On a side note - does anyone know what the rules are on working on maternity leave - as in for a different employer? I have the chance of a few hours a week doing admin for someone that could lead to a perminant job (as i will be sadly leaving my current employer at the end of my maternity allowance) but i dont know where i stand legally on taking a job when on maternity leave - all my googling has dont nothing :(

    Puzzled

Puzzled, I do a couple of jobs and I think that if youn earn during your maternity leave at all it affects your maternity pay.

Unfortunately you can't work for another employer without losing your maternity allowance :(
