Hi ladies, well i've had a lovely day with my mum who popped over and made me lunch then helped me make tea so i didn't have to stand too long in the kitchen. She's so excited about being a mamma, can't wait for baby to come, she keeps on about the fact that she's got the mobile now and i can call whenever i want and that if i can hold out til 7th Sep it will be born on her wedding anniversary.
Oh, and i'm really not impressed Elmo! How dare you be so far engaged when i'm not:(
Only kidding, good news for you and hoping that mine will follow suit soon:)0 -
I am so unbelievably p155ed off and so very upset after seeing the consultant! Apparently my NHS Trust has changed it's policy so that elective c-sections are only done at 41 weeks plus
!! It's so more women go into labour naturally apparently. Well, I never go into labour before about 42 weeks and he's a biggy already so even if I do go into labour I won't be able to give birth just like what happened with DS2. I was fully dilated but he was too big to fit in the birth canal.
My consultant says his hands are tied, thems the rules. Even if he thought I should have one earlier, he would have to go to a case conference and present my case to the bigwigs!
Bubs is big and I'm in pain with SPD already so to go way over is just making me so upset right now. Plus 41 weeks for me is a Friday so you can bet they would make me wait until the MOnday or Tuesday after. I can't stop cryingThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
Awwwww big hugs **hugs**
I'd read something about this on Netmums... It's depressing really as you are asking for a section to avoid stress for baby and an emergency one later, not just because you don't fancy labour!
Is it worth making a case to the bigwigs?Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

demand they transfer you to another PCT.. you can self-refer to some areas.. ring around.. it is much easier when you are on the edge of a trust.. it gets painful when the next nearest is an hours drive away!
Or .. State their stats at them which claim a uterine rupture is most likely to occur in the first hour of being in labour (and while pushing) and by denying your right to choose they are causing you undue distress and possibly risking the life of your and your baby... feotal mortality rates in uterine rupture is very very high.. and maternal mortailty isnt good either. They may also deny you the chance of having more children should you choose to if you have to have a hysterectomy as a result of rupture (which isnt always the case) and if any of the above occurs you will sue the backsides off them as they have not listened to you or considered the best interests of you and the baby.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks PP and Delain. I can't really transfer to another PCT as I'm smack bang in the middle of the county and to go anywhere else would be over an hours drive which just isn't practical really. Having the c-section isn't being denied, he's agreed to it, it's just they won't do it until 41 weeks as per their stupid carpy policy.
I just don't understand when they know I can't give birth to a biggie naturally (as proved with DS2) they won't give me a c-section from 39 weeks? What does it matter to them if I have one then really? I think I'm going to have to write all this down and go armed with all the arguments when I see him again in 4 weeks.
He was really nice about it but his hands are tied. I just can't bear to go well over again - I've done it twice and ended up with a c-section on one of them. If I could stop crying that would be a bonus right nowThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
Hey folks, I never had my name in the due date list and only posted a few times but read the thread every day - I was supposed to be due on 11th September but our little girl made a surprise early appearance in the early hours of Wednesday morning - 31st August (luckily school year cut off date here in NI is June!) Had niggles on Monday overnight, then contractions on and off on Tuesday, we went to the hospital about tea time on Tuesday but were sent home around 8pm as the contractions had stopped (doh!) although I was 2-3cm dilated. About 11pm things really started kicking off, my waters broke at 11:30 so we headed back to the hospital at midnight (which was a hell of a drive as we live 40 miles from the hospital and after the waters broke I was getting contractions every 3 minutes!!). Arrived in hospital about 1am and by the time they examined me i was 8-9cm so rather chuffed I managed most of that stage with no drugs at all! I had a remi-fentanyl drip put in - I think people were asking about it a few weeks ago? Well I thought it was great stuff! You press the button and get a shot of it delivered which only lasts a few minutes, but it really took the edge off things. Wasn't allowed to use it for the latter parts of the pushing phase though as it made me a little too dopey and her head wasn't engaged quite right so it was a helluva job getting it out! Took me almost 2 hours of pushing. But she made it safe and sound at 5:20am, 7lbs 7oz. Best thing of all? No stitches. Yay! Good luck girls, it's really not as bad as I thought it would be. But pushing is bloomin hard work!0

Kandboys - I don't understand either. If they class babies as full term from 36 weeks then i don't see why doing a c section at 38/39 weeks would be an issue. Particularly if they know you have had problems in previous pregnancies. How big were your other babies? On your scans have they done the measurements to show the size of the baby? Maybe you could compare this to the measurements from the last pregnancies as evidence to your case, ie last baby was x big and wouldn't fit so ...
Just a thought:)0
