  • DS1 is a September baby and only last year settled down. Don't think it was boredom though, think it was more cabin fever being trapped in a classroom when he just wanted to be outside!

    Ditto my lot!

The girls in my camera club have been collecting flowerpots and wicker baskets etc since they found out I was pregnant and the phrase "most photographed child in history" has been uttered more than once!

Reminds me I must check if I can afford my little TZ20 yet. My 5D is fab but very heavy and will weigh my hospital bag down lol

Look on Ebay. Lok for the TZ18 as well, it will be a lot cheaper. Unlike most other cameras there is a big difference between these two models- usually two models one apart are extremely similar. I've picked up compacts for 99p before on Ebay, there's some decent enough Fuji's (they've corrected the pinky cast they used to have) for 15-20ish. Fine for hospital! DH will have my 5D, unless I buy a small compact. Might do.
Ignore MP rating in a compact- most couldn't give out quality above 7MP as they use plastic flex lenses or cheaper glass. If you're considering it based on 14MP- choose a lower model. The photos will be fantastic, but there's no way a compact could output the same quality as an SLR- my D30 (3.2MP) has been used to produce prints for the side of buildings, similar in a compact may only output up to a 5x7 print before quality degrades.
MP is just more of a commercial grab than an actual indicator.

LOL don't be sorry - it's good to know theres another photo geek out there :D

I was thinking the TZ20 specifically for the lens, the 1080i video and the IS. Also really like the GPS geo-tagging feature, that sounds fun! Just the price tag stopping me from spluring because I've not long upgraded the SLR and have barely used it since getting pregnant.

Got DS a little Olympus compact for his birthday so might just pick another one like that up for ease, just a point and shoot with some manual settings (planning to start teaching him - have got my old 350D put away for when he's a little more careful). Very impressed with it actually. Mum has a Nikon S3100 which is another cheap and cheerful option. Just depends how much cash I can save before this sproglet drops - fortunately there's an Argos right next door to the hospital so I don't have to decide until the last minute :rotfl:

That's pretty much why photos of me are out PP... that and the fact that I never realise quite what a minger I am till I see a photo or a mirror and I depress myself :rotfl:

Ugh I am finally tackling the disgusting washing up now grumpy Squeak is asleep, just having a break but it's a revolting job, I was beginning to walk about the house thinking that I don't want to touch anything, bit of a wipe your feet on the way out job :o

Hopefully it will be presentable by the end of today, I've just had enough of the mess!

I just take baby photos with my phone :o:o

I like looking in the mirror, I seem to look quite good and not that large however I think I have just learned how to look in the mirror at the right angle etc because when I see any photos of me I am aweful (Quite toad like). Quite depressing really, I don't mind having my photo taken at all just as long as I never have to look at them. Thank fully most of my friends know the score. Unfortunately it means I have no bumb photos.
