is it just me or does no one else keep money in the house? it's chucking down here, i need to be at the MW in an hour, i'm gonna ring for a taxi (even though the sure start center is only a 10 min walk away)
i have money in the bank, but i never have any to hand, i use my bank card to pay for more or less everything. My mother calls me The Queen, cos i never have any cash on me :) good job sister lives in the next street, she's sending her fella round with some pennies for me til i can drag my bum to the cash machine. i am gonna take some extra out and put it in the drawer for a taxi when it's time to go into hospital. my hospital is in the next town and ive no other option but to get one, it does worry me though if a driver picks me up, realizes i'm in labour and says no, i dont want your waters going in my car, prob wont happen but i think about it none the less :)
oh well, best get dressed and see what's going on with this little madam.

Do you use the company often? You could brief them in advance and ask for a driver that doesn't mind as long as you sit on a bin bag (glam I know :p) at least then you won't wait for one, just to be denied!

OH has a friend who drives taxis as a second job, has his own DD, and would never turn a woman in labour away :) Most men with kids would understand I think.

Ooooh, thanks for the reminder, we need to get a taxi to the hospital as well and didnt think about having cash in the house.

I have phoned 4 local taxi companies and checked with them if they will take a woman in labour and they have all said yes - there is now a list on the fridge for OH just in case :)

Thinking about it i should probably put the phone number for the hospital on there as well, think its on my maternity notes somwhere ...

    Puzzled x

Nope. Never have cash on me unless I've just been to the cashpoint!

I agree with Delain. Would definitely be worth letting the taxi company know what you're planning. Not all the taxi's locally to me run 24 hour either so that might be worth checking too? Maybe ask for a cab with leather seats so you can sit on a towel instead of a binbag :rotfl:

They will send an ambulance out for someone in labour anyway. I got a taxi in when I had DS3 without issue.. I never even considered mentioning I was in labour.. it didnt seem relevant.

    I never have cash either

I have a little keyring thingy which you can keep an emergency £20 note in. OH got me one for Christmas a couple of years ago.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/True-Utility-Cashstash-Capsule-Silver/dp/B002JUDJBG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314100085&sr=8-1

It is always on my house keys so I have emergency money wherever I am. I got my mother one as well after she fell off the garage roof and broke her wrist and couldn't phone for a taxi as she had no money on her

What???? (Or am i being dumb?? lol)

OO Dumb moment: I recorded Sex and the City movie on sunday - decided to watch it yesterday. So there i was, watching it, adverts came on, and an ikea advert said "it's now 10:43 and time for bed" - I looked at the clock and thought "silly t**t - it's only 7:50 - what kind of stupid advert is that!!" then i realise - it probably was 10:43 when it was originally aired and i was watching it on sky plus (OH was peeing himself when i told him!!) :rotfl:
