You poor thing WW. I don't wonder you were in tears. How MADDENING!

You must live in the same part of the country as PigPen :D

Now that you have the appointment you might get a cancellation? Try phoning them up every day, they are bound to get cancellations and if you bend their ears enough they might squeeze you in early to get a bit of peace.

#edit# Pigpen just beat me to it!

Thanks everyone :D I know it's a cliche but, first timers, it's totally worth it. I really didn't enjoy pregnancy and had blocked thoughts of labour from my mind since the outset. I'd do it all again in a flash. Obviously not now but if someone took me back to December and said "do you really want to do this?" I wouldn't hesitate.

Do NOT tell me that - I'm at a family wedding tomorrow and it would be the worst day this child could possibly appear!!

Ok. I won't tell you. But the lead up to my story did involve a wedding...although no dramas.

  • Evening all,

I've just been diagnosed with SPD - doctor said baby will probably arrive before the physio referral (I am coming up for 35 weeks). I've been uncomfortable for the last 4-6 weeks but it's only in the last few days it's become painful and tonight it's agony!

Doc wanted to sign me off work but as I finish on Tuesday I resisted. Was also told rest up as much as possible and avoid stairs - I live in a second floor flat and am off to Reading festival next week so fat chance of either of those happening lol.

Just wondered if anyone had any tips with regards to getting comfortable and minimising the pain?

    Thanks in advance x

It sounds like it!! PP are you in the north east by any chance?!?!

My sister had the same problems with a physio referral. She had SPD from about 28 weeks and was still waiting for her appointment to come through when she gave birth at nigh on 42 weeks!

I've heard that sleeping with a pillow between your legs helps. As does not opening your legs, so for example: if you are getting out of bed swing both legs round together. As does wearing a maternity support band, which you can buy in Boots or Mothercare. That's all I can remember, but I know there are people on here who also have it and they will probably be along soon to give you better advice.

I am in the NE.. lol.. noone is here other than 1 person afaik.. noone ever lives here.

I cant have the pillow between my knees it is agony on my hips. I cant wear the support bands as they either contain latex (and I am allergic) or they put too much pressure on my dodgy hips. I am just good for dog food lol

I don't get why so many people are booked in for sweeps already, before they are over due. And why so early - 39 and 40 weeks? Sure baby isn't even overdue at that stage.

I'm not expecting to be overdue, wasn't with DD, but I'll be waiting till at least 41 weeks before they are getting near me. I'm a coward and don't want the extra pain of an induced labour!!

Sequenna what a GORGEOUS BOY you have there!!!!

Here's hoping we get some good news from JCR soon :)

Im having an early sweep as DD weighed 10lb 10oz and i had gone 2 weeks over and then spent 3 days in hospital being induced/in labour which ended in an EMCS so this time they dont want me going more than a week over.

Congrats JCR :j:beer: So pleased your little man is here and healthy xxx
