  • Lirin - I'm in 34J at the moment and hoping they don't get much bigger - gonna be a nightmare trying to find nursing bras as non-underwired are just not comfy! I'm wearing Fantasie Florence - I'm not sure if it's JJ or K they go up to but I have tried literally hundreds and it's the only one where the wires don't dig into my underarms or half way round my back!! It's not the cheapest bra but well worth it for comfort (and it doesn't make me cone shaped which is always a bonus)!

Debenhams sell it online (with free delivery at the moment) and also there are a few sellers on ebay that are cheaper.
Strangely, the black version seems more generous in the cup than the beige version (I still fit HH in the black).

    Hope that helps!

  • Neas, so sorry to hear of the difficult time that you and your wife have been facing. I can understand a little bit of your distress.

We didn't have a Nuchal scan as our hospital don't do them. At our 16 week bloods we were told we were high risk for Down's (1 in 31). We had a week of hell with the hospital consultant trying to strong arm us into an amnio and warning us we would 'have to live with the consequences of our actions'.

Anyway we moved hospitals and had our 20 week scan last Monday. Baby has a hole in the heart, duodenal atrsia (blocked small intestine) and wide set eyes. All soft markers for Down's. Baby will need an operation as soon as he is born to open his small intestine otherwise he cannot pass waste products. I also have polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid) another sign of chromosomal disorder, and as a result we are now 1 in 7 risk for Down's.

We have an appointment to see the heart specialist at 24 weeks, and another scan at 28 weeks. They may want to draw off the excess amniotic fluid if it gets too much which could trigger early labour.

It is hard having this constant worry at the back of my mind but I try not to dwell on it and continue to plan as if everything is going to be ok.

I really hope that your heart scan is all clear and that everything is ok with your baby.

    Best wishes xx
  • Big hugs Wonder Womble. I'm sorry I dont have anything more significant to say....

It's so hot and sticky here....I just want to get naked and lie by the fan!I have already had two ice pops today and a proper ice lolly.....I'm now sitting in the relative dark on the laptop because the spot lights are making me too hot!!

I'm having a carp day, One parking ticket, miserable, DH is being a complete muppet and short of throwing something at him, my only vent is on here, so apologies!!! Is it too much to ask to be looked after in these last days when I'm so fat and pregnant....... without him being an ungrateful so and so!! Grrrrrr!!! I'd go into it, but my blood would boil again and I'm already too hot!!!!

Got back ache too. thought maybe my waters were breaking slowly earlier but apparently not, so now I just have to make peace with the fact that it appears my bladder has weakened.......I'm actually looking forward to being 'swept' by the midwife tomorrow!!

Sorry for the self-indulgent post :(
:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:

Womble... if they need to reduce the amniotic fluid would you consider the amnio from that fluid? I know it is 'too late' by their estimations but if it gives you prior knowledge might it be worth considering?

I am so tired I feel sick.. and in so much pain I can't even face crying. My right hip feels like it is dislocated. :( 2 hours in the car yesterday was NOT good.. and we have been invited to a birthday party 60+ miles away 5 weeks before the due date!! I don't think I'll be going if I am still a fat whack.. :(

I got told off earlier... I started moving the girls bunks beds so I could paint behind them... apparently I am not allowed to move bunk beds any more :(.. what AM I 'allowed' to do? I just want to help and I can't do anything and OH put the leg of the stepladders through the floorboard earlier.. in the room which is being carpeted tomorrow.. so the carpet wil be up the day it goes down to replace the board by the look of it :( AND we are doing Squeak a birthday party tomorrow and have the 3 beds to get up before 7pm as well... oh.. and a door to rehang... I just want to help OH, he is so bored of it all now, and I feel so useless.. apart from being the teasmaid!.

    Thanks Bunnyhop :T

Oooh hope I get a free electric one. I don't really want to go to the expense of buying one as I've had breast surgery so may not even produce any milk, so don't want to go to the expense of buying one if it isn't going to get used!

Now there's an idea!! I never thought of that, I will ask though. Thanks PP :D

Wow, you've been through it too. They detected the hole in the heart at the 20 week anomaly scan? thought they'd only see HLHS etc.

It is a worrisome time as you know, but you do the best for your child i guess. I think ours wasn't downs risk soo much but risk for the rarer syndromes.

I found the antenatal test scan community on babycentre to be really good as it had many other people in similar situations to ours.

So sorry that you are having bad news and commend you for working through it, hope the soft markers are just 'soft' and you get the best possible outcome. For us it was like being hit by a car, going from the 16% odds though with each passing test, CVS and the 20 week scan has been true moments of joy.

I feel hardened by the whole process, nothing really matters in life, work or anything like your family.

For us our odds of getting any chromsome problem was like 1 in 1.6.. (65%) so we had to get CVS.

We are only due to have the equivalent of your 24 week scan, echocardiagram or something.. not sure what the 28 week is, maybe for soft markers again?

One thing i really hated was the consultants matter of fact attitude like he knew for sure something was wrong with our baby, well so far he has been proved wrong and our boy is a fighter.
