Abbey, sorry to hear you had such a horrible night. I have no answers but if you're worried I'd suggest calling or seeing your midwife, hosp or GP. Worrying will make it was worse for sure. (((hugs)))

I just can't understand what the heck is going on. Dads just come downstairs to get ready for work and is surprised to see me wide awake (albeit groggily) and I explained what happened etc. I've got MILD sharp pains in my stomach muscles at the moment, I couldn't say if its womb related. I might actually see if I can sleep for an hour before calling me Julie (midwife). I HOPE she is on duty today. No idea what time she would start. I just don't know why this happens. I've checked my sick bowl from last night and just looks like raspberry leaf tea. Yes its gross but I've kept it in my room so mum can see I DID throw up. I'm starting to think they should induce me (I know its a bit early) because that was worse than death last night. I was ready to do a diy sweep.

    Morning girls

Fab birth story Apricot - mine will be exactly the same.....

MSFC - congrats! What a queue jump! Beautiful name too xxx

Abby - if you are in pain like that overnight, you need to call in if you're really worried. The NHS is a 24 hour service, you don't need to wait until your m/w is at work....

33+2 today - going to get the last bits for my bags this week so they are done by 34 weeks. 19.5 days left at work too - thank the lord!!

    xDx

Congrats MSFC! Lovely name - she was obviously in a hurry to get out wasn't she!

Sorry you had such a horrible night abby. It's very difficult having your first baby as you are not sure what is normal or not. See what your midwife said. But I've heard that sickness can be a sign of impending labour so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Not much to report from me. Still feel really sick most mornings and have a horrible cold. Oh and some idiot has scraped my new car! It happened at the park - there was a red car parked next to me and there's now red paint along my beige car!! Am sooooo annoyed!!!

  • Abby - Hope you've managed to get some rest, really doesn't sound like you're having a good time of it. I'm a first timer too - so I have no other words of advice except if you're worried get on the phone to the MW or hospital.

Congrats MSFC - very jealous of the huge queue jump, but hope you're both welll!!

Can't remember who mentionned hormones but OMG mine are running wild!!! I was the most pathetic creature last night. Tried to get the lid off my stain remover bottle and cried hysterically when I couldnt get it off. My hubby kept asking what was wrong and then didn't believe me when I said it was because I couldnt get the lid off!! Felt like a right plank! But couldnt get over it!

Well, I'm now 4 days overdue, and I can tell you all these old wives tales about eviction techniques are, for me, a load of bull!!! I have tried EVERYTHING!!! Nothing. Little Madam will come only when she is good and ready. You name it, I've done it. Ball bounced, pineapple, reflexology, RLT, s3x, long walks....NOTHING!!!!

Hugs to those that need them x

12 to 24 week pregnancy thread

    Hi All,

I don't know if anyone remembers me posting in the 12 week thread well around 11 weeks ago. Wife is currently 23 weeks and we've been going through the most difficult 11 weeks or so of our life but are nearly at the end of it now.

We had our 12 week scan (see list above lol), and we got a 8.5mm Nuchal Tranluscency (something like 1 in 10,000 odds or more). With the combined blood test wife was given a 1:9 chance of Downs Syndrome, a 1:13 chance of edwards/pataus.

More importantly though because the nuchal was so high (they say 3mm is high..) our consultant levelled with us he said, His chart only went up to 8mm Nuchal, but with an 8mm nuchal these are your 'odds':

65% of babies with 8mm Nuchal have a chromsome disorder.
Of those 35% who don't have a chromsome disorder 40% of those babies have a major heart problem
And finally of those who pass the heart problem, another 20% die in uteuro before birth for reasons unknown.

Combining those odds we had a 16.8% chance of everything being ok. The doctor suggested most people have a termination at this point due to the poor odds, seeing as we wanted this baby soo much and believed in him termination would reduce his odds to 0%... so as our baby he deserved the 16.8% chance, every chance to live.

So we went silent in terms of the baby on these forums, i moved over to another forum with people who had poor prenatal diagnosis too, as obviously listening to everyone picking out things for their baby at 12 weeks, when we would have to endure 12 more weeks of wait and worry before doing such things would be difficult so i packed away all the things we bought for the baby out of the way of the Mrs view and we went down the route of eliminating all or most of the percentages.

First up was the 13+2 week Chronic Villus Sampling scan. My wife was so brave as the needle was pushed into her belly and into the placenta. As the nurses wiggled the tissue sample each wiggle made me feel sicker and sicker. After the procedure i was physically sick, but had to hide it from my wife.

During the waiting we both have time off work as we couldn't deal with the stress and worry of losing our baby. And so sleeping in, watching rubbish daytime tv and reading up ever possible permutation on Nuchal Translucency tests and how it related to each disorder, Turners was the most likely problem with a Nuchal greater than 8mm. So we waited 3 days for the initial FISH (Fast karotyping result) which was amasingly normal, and we were expecting a boy!, led by another 2 weeks or so wait for the full results which again confirmed normal chromsomes... We were in the 35% !

Still not out of the woods we had to wait until the 20 week anomaly scan... again we spent periods of being normal, shopping, relaxing etc mixed in with periods of distress and stress as although the chromsomes were fine the 20 week scan was more likely than normal to show up problems. To allay our fears we had a baby wellbeing scan to check the baby at 16 weeks, the baby was growing well, could see his little pidgy and his long legs. All of the measurements were greater than normal and his measurements showed that of a 18 week baby. Another 3 weeks later we had the anomaly scan which again showed everything looked fine and normal, even the heart.

We have one last heart scan on Wednesday, which should hopefully put us in the clear.

Its been a long 11 weeks.

Oh and our EDD is 29/11/2011 :)

Abby, go up to the docs or hospital and get checked out.... It's better, even for peace of mind.

    MSFC, congrats, lovely name.... :)

Neas, you've really been through it, both of you the last few weeks. I sincerely hope everything works out for you both, and the heart scan goes alright.

Well mum thinks perhaps the pain was my body reacting to the sweep and dilating in one nice big painful go. And then stopping....
spoke to midwife who says no I'd have to be contracting.

But says to go in and get checked out. Well they do say if you experience intense pain to go in!

The throwing up might not be anything to do with labour, I tend to throw up when im in agony. I did it at 17 weeks when I thought I was miscarrying (it was pelvic trouble that started it off)
    Money money money.
