Hey all,
Abby - Sorry to hear baby didn't come before Fluffy went, that's pants. I thought he didn't have to be the bio father if he says he's got parental responsibility?
Congratulations Apricot, what a lovely little girl!
Have been lurking and reading on my phone but only just bothered to turn the laptop on.
Hope everyone's plugs are doing well!!!
I have discovered melon is fab for heartburn. This weeks cravings are definately fruit. I filled the fruit bowl and about 4ft of worktop with fruit ;-)
Also, got my self a gym ball, less than £4 from Sainsburys, it's great!
Most excitingly though........... I had a BATH!!!! In my own shiney new bathroom in my own house! (Some might remember I've been waiting for this for months! After a week of having to try not to fall down the stairs getting to the downstairs loo for my nighttime pees I've got a gorgeous bathroom. It's amazing!
My Gro Egg turned up. It would appear our child is going to spend summer time naked - it has constantly registered as too hot!
Hope all the bumps are well.Bump due 22nd September0 -
Abby - from the direct.gov site. Obviously it depends on how you two feel though.
Ordinary Paternity Leave entitlement
To qualify for Ordinary Paternity Leave you must be an employee. You must be taking the time off to support the mother or carer for the baby and intend to be fully involved in their upbringing. Rights to Ordinary Paternity Leave are extra to your normal holiday allowance.
To qualify for Ordinary Paternity Leave, you must have been with your employer for at least 26 weeks by either:- the end of the 15th week before the start of the week when the baby is due
- the end of the week you are notified you are matched with your child
- biological father of the child
- mother's husband or partner (including same-sex relationships)
- child's adopter
- husband or partner (including same-sex relationships) of the child's adopter
If you are an agency worker, office holder or subcontractor, you will not normally have the right to Ordinary Paternity Leave. However, you may be eligible for Ordinary Statutory Paternity Pay.Bump due 22nd September0 -
i have had time off to look after my OHs kids too, even tho OH ex is a bum and doesnt work but couldnt possibly look after her own children when they are ill!!!
Hopefully abby you will go into labour early wednesday morning giving Fluffy (my OH calls the stuff that he pulls out of his belly button this makes me laugh) enough time to get up to you to catch the last hour or so of the birth when all the good stuff happens.
also couldnt agree more with the dressing gown days when you think "dear me i have a baby/child/toddler/house to tidy/job to go to/ essay to write" somedays you just dont want to function0 -
Abby the hormone high from labour and birth can last a good few days, I'm sure (well I hope) we will all feel good, but we will all have our bad days too where we sit in dressing gowns and with greasy hair looking at the mess in total sleep deprived apathy. Well I do :rotfl:
I can see why you're upset though, it's a bit crap they won't let him have the time off. Why did he tell them he wasn't the bio father, if you don't mind me asking? My OH has had time off before to look after me and my older rabble and his work didn't bat an eyelid and they know he is their stepfather!
Welllllll because Fluff met me when I was 2 and a half months pregnant and he was rather depressed and lonely beforehand. So when he suddenly was happy at work, it was because of me and as I was already pregnant I don't think he could have gotten around it all. He refered to himself as Stepdad yesterday ( I nearly wept like a child but I held it together) which is sweet coming from a 22 year old who lives with his parents! And will do for at least another year...Not going to lie, I can't financially survive the next year at uni if we lived together and he lives in one town and I live in another.hayleythedaisy wrote: »Hey all,

Well I know thats the case but work specifically said to him that because we aren't married or live together then he can't have parental leave. This is the Co-op. He did ask though. So he has taken a week of holiday pay and all for nothing. Well not, he has amused me throughout a highly hormonal week!

Well yes, if I go into labour at like 3am, he can sleep in for a few hours and arrive for the last part. If he doesn't crash on his first long drive here.
Ha well he is Fluffy because of Despicable Me, I watched it repeatedly around the time we got together at the start of the year. And when Agne shouts ITS SO FLUFFY IM GONNA DIE, I would break into hysterics and watch it over and over. So for some reason I renamed him as Fluffy on my phone. I don't call him Fluffy, but he is my Fluffy (feel free to vomit)
If I was at MY house I would be able to see him every week a few days and it wouldn't matter when I went into labour as he could come to the hospital in Leeds. But I am at my parents shacked up in a makeshift bedroom in the dining room (furniture moved to one of the living rooms and this is basically a bedroom) which is 60 miles from his in North Yorkshire and I am in Cumbria currently.
My tummy hurts, my back hurts and I can't breatheeeeeeMoney money money.

:rotfl:me and my daughter LOVE that film
this isnt going to help but at least your going to have help being at your parents for a bit first and if i`m honest i dont really get on with my mam that well she lets me down allllll the time but when i was about to drop DD she was actually there for me which was lovely till my OH got to the hospitalto take over being shouted at.
Its catch 22 at the moment for ya, you dont want to be pregnant any more, lets face it you have done your time now.... but you dont want to pop without fluffy being there for ya0 -

I have to accept he probably isn't going to be there. But as it isn't his child I felt it was EVEN more important for him to be!Money money money.

Abby - sorry to hear you're feeling fed up with it all at the minute
Starting to feel slightly panicky that at 31 weeks I have neither chosen nor ordered the furniture for the nursery. I know baby will be in our room to begin with but I really want to get the room sorted before he is born so I have somewhere to put all his things (there is no furniture at all in our spare room at the minute).
What furniture has everyone else decided on?Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Flower- we're using an existing 3 door wardrobe and 6 drawer chest of drawers - neither of which are "nursery" items but large spacious and practical. Then we've got a cream Ikea chair - poang I think, and an Addington Cotbed from Mothercare, with the £99 mattress.Bump due 22nd September0

I dont have much in the way of nusery furniture, basically a cot bed, and a set of draws, i dont have a chair in the bedroom because with me doing bottle feeds i will already be having to go downstairs to sort that out so baby can come with me and be fed in the front room, i did this with DD i found for me this was best for me being fully awake when feeding her and burping her.
Also i did all nappy and clothes changes in the living/room dining room just because i had visions of me forgetting about a bottle or a nappy and it stinking out the house, weird i know lol0 -
