Btw does or has anyone watched OBEM but the Us version? Is it just me or do they like to TAKE babies out of the mothers body, rather than DELIVER....I never want to give birth in america!

i watch the american one, its basically lay down, have an epidural, let everyone in the room to look at you foof because the chairs are at the end of the bed, i dont think i have seen a single american one give birth without a epidural or c-section

I've not seen OBEM USA (though OH will watch the UK one with me occasionally - mainly so he can say ha ha soon that will be you lol) but I have seen the ones on Discovery home & health and they were going in to be induced on their due dates and given an epidural before they were even contracting in some cases

All seems a bit boring to me... I think G&A is great, and the drama is the most exciting bit!

I watch it, but only out of sheer desperation as there is little else on TV to watch :( It seems as though 99% of mothers have an epidural, and like all the American birthing programmes, it is not gritty enough.

I love the UK version but they rarely seem to repeat it, now if you wanted to watch repeats of Grand Designs or Come Dine With me you're sorted cause they show them repeatedly on a loop

I have been in such pain since about 6 pm last night :( I don't know if it is my back or my kidneys but the pain has gone on for about 2 weeks, albeit intermittent. I made an appointment with my GP, but by the time the appointment came the pain had gone so I cancelled. Surely it can't be a kidney infection if the pain comes and goes?

    Oh..my..god...

I had another episode like the one last week but this was worse.

I spent half an hour at about 1.30am in agony. I can't describe how much I thought I was dying.

So at 10.30pm I had a mini swiss roll. And a cup of raspberry leaf tea.

By 12 I am in bed, by 1 I am going to go to sleep. Was lying down and baby got right under my sternum, so I put gentle pressure on him and he literally flipped under my ribs to the other side, ie the protusion was on one side. I can't give you a timescale but not long after that my stomach started to tense and get slightly painful. So it was like the other one on thursday evening after I ate all those donuts. But then, I SWEAR my uterus was sticking out at the top becauuse it was rock hard and I could put my hand on a "ledge" ie it didn't run smoothly into my body, it actually had a top and I think that was why my rib cage was in agony, It felt like it was being torn upwards. I can't describe how much pain I was in. I was sat on the toilet at this point, couldn't move thought perhaps I was majorly constipated (I'm not, I am dehydrated though) my legs were shaky and I had the feeling of someone going to be sick.

Got back to my bedroom, and basically the pain increased, I actually can't describe how bad it was or tell you exactly where it was as I have kinda forgotten?? I know it went on for a long time and I spent a long time on my hands and knees just yelling and shouting and moaning. I then managed to get back into bed and lay on my side but I still don't know how I managed that. It was agony. I am surprised I didn't wake anyone up I was really shouting. But then again I kept the door closed and there isn't a room above my "bedroom" so the sound was contained. Mum would have been worried if she had found me in that state. If she had asked me what was wrong I doubt I could have vocalised it apart from "OWWWWWWWWWWWWW". I can see why women in labour shout.

I am really worried that the baby has been severly distressed. I hardly vomited anything up, it was just the raspberry leaf tea and Tums that I took hoping it would calm my stomach down. The fact that the Tums didn't work leads me to believe that this occasion and last occasion aren't gastro related. So I don't know what it is? I get hardly any braxton hicks. I've had 3 of these in 2 weeks of increasing severity. The first one was major back pain to the point of being faint after eating at my grandmas (chicken, vegetables, potatoes and rice pudding so nothing that could have set my stomach off) then last week was after I ate a whole box of mini donuts (so I assumed the sugar was the cause of the problem) and then last night was 3 hours after I had a chocolate roll. I don't know why I keep relating it to food but I can't see any other reason.

I'm going to phone my midwife today (no idea what time is appropriate) I've had 2 hours sleep, my stomach/womb is sore. I'm shattered but I daren't lie down. my back aches. But I am not in labour.

I'm just really f-ing (no other way to describe it!) worried

Abbey, sorry to hear you had such a horrible night. I have no answers but if you're worried I'd suggest calling or seeing your midwife, hosp or GP. Worrying will make it was worse for sure. (((hugs)))

Abby there will always be someone in the labour ward, you can ring them whenever you want if you are having trouble. Donh't let them fob you off though if you are sure something wrong.

Is he wriggling about this morning?
