Labour and keep in vibes!
i didnt have to have the GTT as my 28 week bloods came back fine.
Think it may depend on the area youre in.
im another one who cant believe theres a baby in there, been spending time with my 5 week old nephew this weekend, he was 8lbs 10oz when born and hes over 12lbs now. i cant believe something that size can fit!!
last week at work for me!!!hurrah:j
cant wait for some long lies.
got the physio tomorrow to see about getting splints for my wrists, to ease the carpal tunnel pain.0 -
A GTT is a Glucose Tolerance Test - it looks for diabetes and Gestational diabetes
I had mine at 28 weeks because my father is type 1 diabetes and I was having hypoglaecemic episodes (passed with flying colours though).
It's not standard in the UK to have one (is in the US). You're only offered one if you are over a certain BMI, have hypoglaecemic episodes, family history, baby measuring weeks ahead etc.
Debs you'll be fine. The early start is a killer but once things got going I found the time passed pretty quickly and I actually enjoyed the glucose drink as it was the first thing I'd had other than water since 10pm the evening before (my test started at 8:45am).
Thanks for the explanation of GTT Sequeena - much better than I could have achieved!!
I have to have it as my dad was diagnosed with type 2 last year. I don't think I have any symptoms etc so it's just precautionary. Luckily my blood has to be taken at 9:30am so I have to drink the stuff at 7:30 - usually up at 5:30 so not a problem!I only have blood taken once and then it's sent off for testing. If there is a problem, I'll be recalled. My only worry is that I'm awful with blood being taken - usually the only thing that stops me fainting is a Mars bar just before.......... eep!!
Congrats on v-day Winnie
Stay put vibes for Sequeena

Morning ladies.
I'm feeling brave so here is a pic of my huge 31 week bump. Warning tho likely to fill your whole screen ,lol
I can't get over how hard my bump is all the time, feels like it is permantly contraction. but when the braxton hicks go, it goes completly like jelly. so weird.and i've got a hard bit under my left boob which mw said feels like a bum by how baby is laying and you can see it move when he turns. it is completely alien like, but also so wonderful. still it is nice to have a baby the right way round for once.0 -
GTT will be fine
I had one, and unfortunately was diagnosed, at 21+6 but the test was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be! Take a book with you though!
Completely know what you all mean about not feeling there is a baby inside you, even when I had my scans I am not sure my brain entirely made the connection that the wriggly thing on the screen was actually in my belly!0 -

Hi all, please may I join you as I'm 25+2 today
Posted this on the other thread, but I hope you don't mind me asking for advice here too;
Has anyone got any experience of being signed off work by the GP? I'm seriously stressed with everything, still getting heart palpitations & bad headaches (& sciatica), can't sleep & no appetite & spend so long getting wound up about everything I think I'm losing the plot - I burst into tears everytime I have to go to work which isn't me at all. I'm now worried about how this is affecting giblet, but scared the GP won't take me seriously & just tell me to get on with it. I'm supposed to be on garden leave from work anyway which I was really looking forward to but it was cancelled & I have to go in full-time with nothing to do all day.
I'm also worried as I've only got 15 weeks to go & I don't have a nursery to get ready (just had offer accepted on house but living with parents at mo) and don't even know if we'll be moved by b-day

Well, twice - once for GTT and another for anemia. If the results of this come back that I'm a risk, I have to have the one that lasts around 3 hours I think.
Everything crossed!!
