I don't let the girl/boy thing bother me. I appreciate it's a bit wearing later on in the pregnancy, or if it isn't your firstborn, so you'll probably see me on here in a few more weeks moaning about it. I've been told it would be nice if we had a girl, we'd be able to use all DSD's things- no we couldn't, we had a spot of damp in the attic which destroyed a few bits- anything fabric went. Besides, DSD is almost 11! We will have to buy all over again, so it really is no issue from a MSE angle!
I've been asked a few times, and the statutory response from Hobbit and I is currently 'As long as it isn't an alien being, or a creature of evil intent from another space-time dimension, and preferably if it doesn't sport a set of horns, we're happy with whatever gender it is.' (Blame for that is solely Hobbit- we love sci-fi/fantasty)..... Tends to confuse people enough to allow us time to make an escape.0 -
I do tend to cut some people some slack if they just ask what I'm hoping for without projecting their gender issues on to me - I say I'm hoping for a baby
One of my friends did say that she's not coming to my house in ten years. When I asked why, she said 'Think of the hormones, all of them will be hormonal by then' which is at least true :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

That's funny lirin. For a while I told people that we were really hoping for a Labrador puppy. Now I know it's a boy I'm so fed up of people asking if we've chosen a name. We have but I usually lie and say no or give a silly name which I hate (really hope that doesn't backfire and we get loads of gifts embroidered with that name)0

I can imagine it gets wearing when everyone tells you what you should be wanting based on what you have already. As this is my first, everyone just wants to guess what I'm carrying - so far, about 90% of guesses have been for a boy (apparently am carrying all out front and low and from the back I don't look pregnant!).
Puzzled - I think it feels close for me as I only have 23 days left at work and yet so much to do! And when I think back to what I was doing 10 weeks ago, it feels like yesterday - then I think "crikey - time is flying by!"
xDxFear is temporary, regret is forever.....:happyhear Baby girl born 27th September - 10 days late!! :happyhear0 -

We got fed up with people asking what we've picked for our names - we tell everyone Wayne or Sharon...
(No offence to anyone called Wayne or Sharon.........!)

I still have people telling me we should have found out what we are having to make it easier for them to buy presents lol, we keep telling them to save their pennies until baby arrives but they arent having it lol.
I only have 15 working days at work after today (working monday - friday and last day is the 16th August becuase of holidays) and it seems like forever one minute and no time at all the next.
I dont know why i think its so far away, you are right, looking back 10 weeks seems like yesterday but 10 weeks in the future, i cant imagine it!0 -

Urgh - how jealous am I! I finish on 38 weeks and have 2 weeks annual leave before ML starts on week 40!

The best one I had was when I'd just had DS2. Someone said 'didn't you want a girl?'!!! As if I can go into a shop and pick which one I want!
And I would never buy a present for someone until they had actually had the baby!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -
11 working days left for me. I'm finishing dead on 36 weeks. It's like a fuse has gone in my brain and i just need to stop.
People trying to guess based on the shape of my bump would drive me mad. Anyone has a 50:50 chance of being right, it doesn't take an expert to have a go! The other day my mum said "you look like youre having a girl" even though she was there for the scan and saw the boy parts on screen. Maybe it was her way of saying "you look fat". If people say they think it's a boy that's probably a compliment as means your body looks normal apart from the bump.
I'm so short tempered these days. Had you noticed? The calm and sedate me of the first and second trimesters has been replaced by a hormonal psycho!!!!!.

But.. then I quite like Maude! lol
Womble... Sorry to hear things didn't quite go in your favour.. butfor an active little squiggle. Holes in the heart often heal themselves before birth so hopefully your little one will be lucky in that respect! Are they offering any further support? Counselling for example just in case. Have you had any advice in terms of what to expect? 'Wait and see' isn't really good enough. And should, God forbid, you be that 1 in 7.. may I offer the advice of.. whatever help and support is offered TAKE IT.. from experience, don't think it will be forthcoming later on because it has to be fought tooth and nail for if you decline input in the early years.
