Hi everyone am now 12 wks and 4days so will introduce myself officially here,
My name is obviously amanda lol am 29 pregnant with my 4th child #1 DD was stillborn @31wks, #2 DS1 born early by induction 38wks as a precaution after DD went so wrong ! now a healthy 8 yr old, #3 DS2 born at 41 wks after I begged them not to go in at 38 wks again I wanted to labour on my own never happenned and it was a mistake them leaving me too cord was tightly round his neck and upon check at the hospital his heartrate was dangerously low emergency section followed.
This is my last pregnancy I do not intend to have anymore it is also with a new OH and this will be his first and only child (he only ever wanted one) we've had numerous scares already getting to this point !
Have got the official 12wk scan on thursday at 14.20 and also have to see the consultant at 15.00 to talk about plans for the pregnancy with my high risk history have some pretty set ideas but not sure how we'll get on - bit nervous !
Birth plans - would never make another after DS2 he was the only one i'd made too as someone else said the only plan is to get him/her out safely its nice to make one but I think then some people can be disappointed if it doesn't go to plan IYKWIM.
B/F - still wierds me out a bit if I am completely honest I too had an awful experience of a midwife going up my top grabbing my breast and shoving it in baby's face when DS1 was born she told me off all the time and I swore i'd never do it again !!! I didn't try with DS2 but am considering doing so this time around trouble is when I had DS1 I discovered I do make milk but not enough to satisfy so am thinking I will bottle feed and supplement with expressed milk anyone else considering this ? I can't manage exclusively feeding from breast but we're all told its best and I do want the best for my children I'm not having the midwives pushing and pulling around with my breasts though I have huge breasts 34G and they still won't fill doc said I must just be one of the unlucky ones I did attempt mixed feeding with DS1 but m/w said I wasn't allowed to do that either it confuses the baby as it is completely different feeding from breast and bottle.
I'm confused I really dunno what to be doing ! ANyone got any advice ?

JCR youv confused me now can anyone who knows help iv been to midwife today and baby is 4/5. i thought they measured the amount of the head they could still feel above the pelvis so you would start at 5/5 and go to 0/5 at birth. if im right then your baby is really low and you dont have long to go :T if its the other way around then im gonna panic
i havent wrote a birth plan yet but im not going to go into alot of detail other than i DONT want to spend 7 hrs on a bed attached to a monitor like they made me do with DS. it was unnecessary as he didnt have a prob with heart rate or anything and i ended up having a very long painful birth . at the time i was only 18 and too scared to question their judgment so did what i was told but not this time im 18 yrs older myself and i will ask to speak to a doctor and find out why if im told i need to be on a monitor for more than 20 min. im also intending to stay at home as long as i possibly can so theres less chance of them interfering. not sure how OH will cope with that mind he already panics and is ready to start the car if i as much as wince when i get up :rotfl:
iv been told today i have carpal tunnel due to extra fluid in preg which explains why my hands keep going into claws. and i can be refered to have splints fitted. yeah right on the NHS itll take them weeks to get an appointment through and babys due in 4 weeks i just said thanks but its ok :rotfl:its not even that bad just bad on a morning and a bit stiff through the day.
hope everyone is well and lots and lots of labour vibes to anyone who wants them

Amanda.. they are not allowed to physically touch you without prior consent or you can sue them for assault. Babies know how to breastfeed.. some are a bit slow to come to grasps with it. Your supply increases with the demand so you will have plenty of milk after a week or so... unless there is something untoward going on. The simple list is.. do not hold the baby's head in your hand, the nerves they use for suckling run through the scalp so if someone holds their head they cannot suckle properly.. do not stuff the boob in the baby's face.. move the baby to the boob.. poke the nipple up its nose and when it opens it's mouth wide enough for the top of its head to fall off stuff in as much as possible.. BF was invented for lazy people!!
MSFC..I have developed carpal tunnel this time too.. I've not had it before.. hey, got to do something new! I keep waking up with numb crumpled hands and they both went into spasm last night on the way up.. I already have splints for my RSI (that's what 20 years of pushing a pushchair does for you) but it is advised not to wear them forbed.. well I can't function wearing them during the day.. I can't even pick up a cuppa with them!!!

Welcome Amanda. Your story made me sad that you've been through so much. I hope all goes well this pregnancy.
I too don't want to get too focused on a birth plan that doesn't work out. My sis got really set on an all natural birth and then struggled to come to terms with an emergency section. But I will give it some thought as I'm sure I won't be thinking straight in the day so a few notes for my own benefit might be useful (eg vit k yes/no, placenta delivery thingy yes/no).
My feet look like water balloons today and my fingers are so fat my husbands wedding ring which used to only just stay on my thumb now hardly goes on my ring finger. Losing strength/grip too as struggled to cut 2 slices of bread this morning. Oh the glamour!0 -

Welcome over Amanda!
Hi Sparkle how are you feeling?
Im still here, nothing to report - waiting for my tea to cook am sooooo hungry!
On the subject of birth plans, I have written one because otherwise how can I expect people to know what I want? However, Im not going to get hung up on it being followed to the letter - it just makes me feel better that I have something written down when I may not be able to speak for myself properly and however much I try to explain things to OH I can imagine that when the time comes and we're both in a panic, my birthing preference is going to be the last thing that he can remember!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Evening all,
Self indulgence alert!! Sorry to ignore everyone else, hope all are well.
I have had a pig of a day, had a bloke drive into the back of my car this morning when i was on my way to work, cue a trip to local a & e to check baby - no midwife care as they are closing the unit - best they could offer was a 5 minute check if a midwife could pop down and "spare" a few minutes.
Got in the car and drove 20 minutes to neighbouring town (bear in mind i am 85 miles away from home and at this point have not registered any movement and OH is miles away at work)
Get to the hospital who send me to a million different places until i find maternity triage and they hooked me up to the monitor for 20 minutes and thankfully Elvis had a stable heartbeat and started moving around again so thats the good news.
Am stuck down here for at least 24 hours becuase its not advised for me to make the 2 hour drive home and all i want is a cuddle from OH and to be home with him but cant go and that sucks.
Have spoken with the insurance and got it all sorted, not my fault as he drove into me so i've got a hire car coming on Friday but car looks like its an insurance write off becuase of the age and the amount of frame work damage so the £300 we spent on the MOT just 2 weeks ago is wasted and we arent going to buy a new car until baby is here so just got to get through these last few weeks of work and then i can rest.
Sorry for being so moany, am not in the best frame of mind so should probably not have posted, ive had every emotion possible today and just want some definite sign that Elvis is all ok.
