Morning all hope you are well. Off to the docs today for my 25 week check plus will pick up my crib from Argos!
I can't advise about bras as I'm one of the few whose boobs don't increase in pregnancy or after birth - lucky I guess but means breastfeeding is out as milk never, ever comes in!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -

I spent much of yesterday scraping wood chip off DDs bedroom, and my hips are so sore with sciatica today:-(
Unfortunately, there is still lots more scraping needing done today. I HATE wood chip. Thank goodness DDs room is the smallest bedroom.
Also, I have to take antihistamines for dusty jobs like this, so I'm feeling a bit wonky.
Think I need a pick me up to get me going this morning. Any suggestions?
On the bra subject, mothercare have some nice t-shirt mat and bf bras. I'm now 38G (groan) and find most non-wired bras to be completely hideous on me, but the moulded tshirt style ones aren't bad at all. Think they were between £15 and £20. To save money I bought bf ones, other than the wee clips, they seem to be identical to the maternity bras.
Alison- wood chips- wallpaper steamer, and let it soak for ages. Messier, but keeps dust down and works. I'd happily give you a hand- we had to do it in DSD's room, and it's a nightmare. I have also taken a planer to it before as well, but be careful you don't lift the plaster underneath....
I've had a couple of non-underwired bras before, and found they don't sit quite as nice as I'd like....0 -
Morning ladies and bumps.
Well thought I was in actual labour last night - had chronic backache and cramping. Could not get comfortable in any position and even started crying (which is very unlike me). Anyway, had a bath and started to feel a bit better. And then slept soooo well I feel like a new person today. We're off to a wedding 4 hours away this afternoon (car seat and hospital bag are in the car already just in case). Not sure this is a good idea but its been decided now
Even made it into work this morning which I didn't think I would at one point last night. Some random woman has just asked me how long I've got left and when I told her 5 weeks she just laughed and said "you'll never make it 5 weeks!!":eek:Leo James arrived 7 days late on 26th August 2011 by emergency CS :j Such a cheeky chappy now :T0 -
Asda do some really, really pretty ones for £6, can't find them quickly on their site- think it's part of the George range.... I've just bought three marked down to a pound each.
Are these maternity ones or are you buying wired ones? TBH I'm not fussed as to whether I wear wires or not as long as they aren't too tight and give me support. I was a 28E before I got pregnant and have no idea what I am now. I can't normally find 28s anyway so always go for 30 rib size.0 -
SvSandy- normal wired ones. Gave up on maternity ones- the word alone adds £20 to the price tag!
Wired ones working absolutely fine with me so far, completely comfortable. I'm a bit bigger- was 30GG before, so going to J wasn't a lot- DH doesn't seem to have any complaints......
Bras are fine to find- never had a problem. Getting a top that doesn't immediately suggest I'm looking for a role in a dodgy film is a lot harder though....0 -
Claireloo - sounds scary!! People keep telling me I'll never make my due date either  and I still have 9 weeks to go!!
Enjoy the wedding
xDxFear is temporary, regret is forever.....:happyhear Baby girl born 27th September - 10 days late!! :happyhear0 -

Thanks Lirin! Most of the wood chips are off now, it's the underneath layer that's left behind. Lifting that off lifts the paint underneath, A lovely puke yellow gloss paint. And the plaster was never primed, glossy paint was put straight onto it, grrrr. Thank god it's the only room that has been wood chipped, the rest are plain old wall paper, that can just be painted over for now.
I'll maybe see if I can borrow a steamer of someone though, might make it a bit quicker.
Claireloo, you're a brave woman heading off to a wedding 4 hours away!!! I would have happily made my excuses to stay homeFirst Baby born January 2007
Second Baby born September 2011 :j0 -
Lirin tell me about it. I'm a size 6/8 with 28Es and a V-neck t-shirt looks suggestive on me. I think we must have very similar body shapes.
I'll have a look at the George bras though, thank you.0 -
I'm a size 10, normally, so yeah- the suggestive look is there!
I balance it out by being reasonably tall and having freakishly large Size 9 feet. Actually quite pleased with shape at the moment- bump has turned into a small hard lump and seems to be sitting quite high, and can't be noticed from the back according to my boss.....
Alison- if you can't find a steamer, I have one, though a bucket of hot water and an old facecloth will work as well- just soak the wall for a few seconds. Sugarsoap can also help, but there's restrictions on using it during pregnancy. The fun I've had with our house- previous owners apparantly took the tack that they didn't need to lift anything in order to redecorate- our bathroom floor, for example, consisted of two layers of vinyl, parquet flooring (badly nailed together as they apparantly couldn't just slot it) and two layers of carpet.....0 -
:eek:Hi girls....
Congrats to all our new mummies enjoying the product of all those hard months and good luck to all the boldies!
Have been awol due to a 'babymoon' holiday and very busy last few weeks at work but have tried to keep up reading the thread.
I had my first antenatal class yesterday (nhs community one so very mse) - was really good, though the step by step photos were a little daunting
Feel so much better prepared now and got OH to download the contraction master app even though he wasn't convinced it would be any better than just writing it down. We had a trial run for a few min with him rubbing my back in 'support' and had a look at the graphs etc - appeals to my inside geek
Got some things to decide for birth plan now too - aiming for as little intervention as possible though the 'placental injection' was recommended so will have to read up about that - what do our experienced mummies feel? Got to do my hospital bag soon too... only 6.5weeks left eek!
Also have to step up my pelvic floor and perineal exercises/massage or I'll only have myself to blame... hopefully OH and I will be less tired to be able to make the most of the 'contact'
Also we got our pram this week - exdisplay M&P urbo for about 2/3s of new price and absolutely gorgeous - have been getting it up and down all evening. Mum has got a Graco Junior carseat from her best friend so will have a gander at that next weekend. .... And her other friend has a vintage cradle that she's going to lend us for the first few months so we're almost set. Not sure where its all going to go though - already we've got baby stuff in most of our cupboards.
well done to everyone completing their diy - we're still waiting for an insurance assessor to come to see our leaky ceiling/roof and so are living with buckets and towels in case of downpours - what would I give to have a freehold house so that I could get this organised myself - its been 8 weeks since the first waterfall.
right... this post is far too long and I should be working... 11 and a half days to go and I can't wait! xx love to allteam yellow
Can't wait to meet you now baby!0
