Might get myself one of those packs, although you can buy individual cartons in Asda for 62peach and use your own bottles.

Yes! I was shocked and a bit miffed it only comes in a box of 12 but (I know I'll be hated for this) as I'm not BF'ing I wanted to make the first feeds as stress free as poss, especially as I expect a lot of grief from the hosp staff about not BF'ing. DH knows that he'll be able to crack on straight away too if there are any probs with me so on balance, it proved to be a worthwhile expense for me.

I may not be able to breastfeed as I had breast reduction surgery 6 years ago, and I won't be taking any grief from the hospital staff if I can't do it. I intend to try but if I can't I can't. I'll be prepared with some formula just in case.

I think all who are planning to bottle feed need to check with their individual hospitals. Surely they would have some emergency ones? What happens when a mum has a c-section with a general anaesthetic - baby couldn't wait for a feed until she wakes up!! They must have some for that sort of situation. Not everyone can breastfeed!!

As Kandboys has said I would check with your individual hospital as it may have a different policy, and I dare say that they have supplies in case of emergency or for those who turn up without so much as a nappy.

But I think if you are planning on bottle feeding it will be expected that you provide your own formula and bottles.

Doglover, I wasn't invited for a tour of the maternity unit. I googled my hospital and on their website it had details of how to get in touch, so I did and asked for a tour.

Thanks WW I didn't think about the obvious - asking the hospital! I know the hospital quite well but not the maternity and labour ward. I'm not too stressed about having a tour tbh as I doubt I'll care too much when the big day arrives.

I only chose the SMA bottles because they're all ready to use.

My lovely DH has done wonders with the nursery so far, I can't wait to see it finished. I'm feeling much less stressed now. The nursery should be done by the end of the weekend, I've washed the mummy and baby clothes ready to pack in the hosp bag and there are only a few bits left to get before I pack it. I've got a few things left to buy for Baby's arrival but nothing that we couldn't live without to begin with. The pushchair is at MIL so I need to make sure that it's accessible.

See, I suddenly feel more in control. About time! One week left at work and then it'll be operation chill until this little Mr arrives.

Hope you've all had a nice eve and there isn't too much pregnancy insomnia tonight

I was told that I wouldn't be able to breastfeed after I had my breast reduction as they completely cut my nipples off cutting the milk ducts whilst repositioning them but my milk came in to my surprise.

I didn't want to breastfeed anyway but at least I still had the option.

I don't have any nipples now so I definately can't breastfeed & i'm hoping that no one at the hospital even suggests it to me as i'm likely to burst into tears.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

BCS... that made me sad.. hormonal wench that I am.. just the thought someone might be that insensitive is just terrible.. It shouldn't be something you have to think about.

Right.. changing unit bought for OH.. (for him to change the baby not for him to be changed on!)

Still need 2 towels and a baby monitor..

We may also have a girly name .. :D (boys name was sorted weeks ago)

Next presents should be here tomorrow.. :D

Beds ordered.. due for delivery about the 26th.. I think my head may be on the verge of exploding by then.. where the heck will I keep them for a week while I get the room decorated and carpetted?????

I am sanding and painting skirting next week.. so it is one less thing to do!

Goodmorning ladies, well what a pointless effort it was trying to sleep last night. I think I've had a total of about 2 hours and I feel very peculiar now. Hey ho, at least it's friday. Then only one week left.

I too have noticed that Sparkle has been quiet, I look forward to hearing from her, esp if there's a baby sparkle in tow!

I hope you all have a good day x

    Morning ladies

    Labour vibes to the boldies

I need to start thinking about getting organised properly now - so, tens machines. Where have you ladies hired yours from? How do I know which are best?

Secondly, where do I get fitted for a nursing bra? Is it best to go to mothercare/mamas and papas or to M&S/Debenhams?

Started thinking about actual maternity leave this morning - it's going to be so weird getting up in the morning and not going to work - I've always had somewhere to go on a weekday since I was at school, having never been unemployed etc. How weird will it be? Especially when baby hasn't arrived yet.....

    Anyway, it's Friday ladies :D

    xDx

eugh, i've been looking everywhere for a decent priced maternity bra! but 34J seems to be impossible! I cant afford a bra for £30 :( egh

but atleast i now know that i shall be looking for baby girl clothes! excited!

Congrats on the girl kimmilew. For bras, I can def help- I'm 30J. I've given up looking for something that doesn't have underwire, as it won't happen.
Debenhams and M&S are £30ish, which is out of my price range as well- really trying not to spend anything. They didn't have a lot anyway that wasn't reminiscient of huge tents in white....
Asda do some really, really pretty ones for £6, can't find them quickly on their site- think it's part of the George range.... I've just bought three marked down to a pound each.
Check Ebay as well, they're always on there.

If all Mamas and Papas are the same I wouldn't go there, they are more like a showroom and the staff are just general sales assistants rather than being helpful if you know what I mean.
I intend to go to Mothercare first and then M and S because locally they both have decent sized underwear ranges. And I intend to go in and "browse" whilst checking out the sales assistants to see which one looks the most competant!

Pigpen, I really don't know how you manage all that DIY.
I spent much of yesterday scraping wood chip off DDs bedroom, and my hips are so sore with sciatica today:-(
Unfortunately, there is still lots more scraping needing done today. I HATE wood chip. Thank goodness DDs room is the smallest bedroom.
Also, I have to take antihistamines for dusty jobs like this, so I'm feeling a bit wonky. :o
Think I need a pick me up to get me going this morning. Any suggestions?

On the bra subject, mothercare have some nice t-shirt mat and bf bras. I'm now 38G (groan) and find most non-wired bras to be completely hideous on me, but the moulded tshirt style ones aren't bad at all. Think they were between £15 and £20. To save money I bought bf ones, other than the wee clips, they seem to be identical to the maternity bras.
