Scottish Power Energy reward tariff

Do the Scottish Power Reps still help out?
This topic is cropping up a lot as this tariff comes to an end.0 -
I am not a lawyer but I would think SP would be in very big trouble if they tried to change the terms of the reward. At least two people have had it confirmed that the cashback will be paid if customers remained with them until 7 June, as the leaflet accompanying the offer I received detailed.
They have also confirmed that the "Right to cancel" applies and the cancellation fee will be waived.

Whatever happens, I have already decided to switch as I wanted to get fixed deal from another supplier before it was too late.

I have had a callback from Scottish Power. I was told that the bonus is payable as of 7th June and is currently being transferred to eligible customers though they could not say exactly when it would hit my account. Obviously cancelling my current contract before it's expiry on 31st July 2011 would result in a penalty being charged but this should not have anything to do with the £105 bonus payment.
On 1st August apparently I will be offered by email the option to opt in to the Online Energy Saver V14 tariff which is apparently not affected by the price rise? (Sorry I can't post the link to this tariff as I'm a new user! This, according to Jen (the SP employee who called me) is a "really good deal"!!!
It is an online only discounted deal as follows "Online Energy Saver 14 guarantees that your prices will be a minimum of 2% below our standard monthly Direct Debit (No Standing Charge) prices – right the way through to 31st August 2012."
I'm not convinced about the "not being affected by the price rise" comment but I'm off to do a bit of research now:think:
Hope this helps!0 -

I thought they were waiving the fee as per the email I and many others received?
I can't see how the new tariff can be unaffected by their price rise. If they are saying it is 2% below standard, and standard prices rise, then clearly the prices for that tariff will rise too.0 -
£105 reward: will be credited as long as your account was active on 7 June. You do not need to stay with the tariff until 31 July/ 1 August to get this reward. The confusion started because one of their e-mails mentioned the July/ August date. The original T&Cs clearly state the qualifying date for the reward payment is 7 June. The money is being credited in batches, so will take some time to hit all customers' accounts.
Cancellation charges: no cancellation charge if you sign up to their Online Energy Saver 14 ("OES 14"). If you switch to another supplier, there is also no cancellation charge provided you inform ScottishPower about this and ask them to raise a "Right to cancel". As I understand it, the switch has to start within 15 days.
OES 14: if you switch to OES 14, if I am not mistaken, the prices will apply from 1 August i.e. you are not forgoing the current discounted Online Energy Reward tariff if you switch now to OES 14. On the other hand, if you wait too long, OES 14 could be withdrawn.0 -
I just wonder what will happen if we switch and thereby close our SP account, will they then claim there was no account to credit the reward to?
I really don't trust Scottish Power at the moment.0 -
My account is in debit from the Winter, not by a great deal but it would have been balanced out by the Summer payments if I had stayed with them.I just wonder what will happen if we switch and thereby close our SP account, will they then claim there was no account to credit the reward to?
I really don't trust Scottish Power at the moment. If you have an outstanding debt, we may object to your supply leaving us, but we will give you time to pay the debt and leave us without incurring the increased prices. In my case I can't see them closing the account while I am in debit, plus the reward can go towards any outstanding balance if necessary.
I have already applied to switch but I haven't notified SP yet, nowhere does it say you have to inform them immediately. I plan to wait a little while, a week or so, then inform them I am leaving an exercise the "Right to cancel", that way the new provider will have had more time to sort the switch date out and the reward may have been credited.

For anyone still undecided about switchingDear Tharweb,
Thank you for your email.
Your onlin (sic) energy reward £105.00 will be applied to your accounts by the 1st of August.
ScottishPower are increasing prices due to the cost of rising wholesale energy which we can no longer absorb. This follows a 30% increase in the cost of wholesale energy for an average Dual Fuel customer since November 2010.
Your current product of Online Energy Reward is due to expire on 31st July 2011. As part of this product agreement there is a cancellation fee, however, by using your Right to Cancel, you will not be charged this fee should you wish to change supplier.
If this decision has been made due to our recent price increase announcement, we have available products which are unaffected by this price change.
We have just launched our new Fixed Price 2015 package. This will offer fixed unit prices until January 2015. Currently this is the longest fixed price product available.
We also have available our Platinum product, providing standard boiler cover and fixed prices until January 31st 2014.
Further information on any of the above products can be found on our website at http://www.scottishpower.co.uk.
Should you wish to transfer to any of the above products, please confirm at your earliest convenience and we can arrange to do this for you.
We look forward to hearing from you in due course.

I wish to notify you that following your email dated 16 June 2011 advising of an increase to your tariffs, I wish cancel my contract for gas and electricity from yourselves and switch to a new supplier. I understand that as I am exercising my "Right to cancel" you will waive the cancellation fee.
As I signed up for the Online Energy Reward deal and was a Scottish Power customer on 7 June 2011, I believe that I am entitled to a cashback payment of £105. This payment can be used to offset any arrears I may owe before my account is closed.

after almost wearing out my calculator never mind my brain and much gnashing of teeth, I have finally switched to the Scottish Power OES 14, it might cost me a small amount more than switching companies, but to be honest I truly feel all the energy companies are just as bad as each other!
On the whole SP were quite helpful on the phone but I have to admit to being disappointed that the Scottish Power Rep on here didn't bother responding to the email I sent on 21st June asking for some clarification...0 -
