Home and had an amazing time. No ring though. My friends were shocked and I told R this and he was shocked that they thought we would get engaged. To him a year is very soon - I think it's a Dutch thing - all my friends got engaged after a year... nevermind, we have plenty of time. He did ask if I was disappointed, I said not really as I know it will happen one day. Inside, I am a little disappointed but there's no way I am going to pressure him into thinking he's gotta do it.
On Monday I was tearful because I was really tired after some weird dreams I had on Sunday night, plus the come down of the weekend and having to go back into work... R has put nursing back into my head. I REALLY want to do it, scared about money though. I know he would support me and we'd probably be ok but it's the fear of going back to uni. I hated uni, I had no friends and hated the course, I know nursing would be different and I could just get a part time job like I did when I was at uni but nursing has placements with weird hours.... I dunno. We'll see.. He also threw another spanner in the works... he wants us to move to South Africa. I have never been to SA, I'd love to go... Scared a little about living there as you hear about all the crime but I guess there's a lot of crime here too... I think if we were to go to SA then I would just go and do nursing here so then I could do my ultimate dream job of working with HIV and AIDS (I dunno where this passion has come from but it has been with me for the past 5 years... I wrote my dissertation about HIV and AIDS and how it is taught in British schools - (I did a media degree - go figure!) and I have worked with The British Red Cross.
I think I will still apply for the civil service too just to keep my options open.
Lots of things to think about... hmmmmmm

Mum bought me a TEFL course so I can teach in other countries as well as the UK.
I did my first lesson this morning - it's rather easy but very good!! I plan to use it when we go to SA. The BF seems not to talk about it much, the whole going to SA thing but I'm now well up for it and really want to go. I can't help but think that now is the best time!
My head is as usual all over the place, trying to think of the best plan of action to be most happiest.
I have put over 60 DVDs on eBay yesterday, I figure they are no use to me, especially if we emigrate!!
Anyways, hope you're having a good day xxxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
The boy has been looking at jobs in SA, they are crying out for people like him (programmer / developer). I can do my TEFL but today found a job in the UK not far from us which would mean I could get loads of teaching experience here in the UK and then next Sept apply for a PGCE and teach real subjects!!! The money is amazing £22K for 4 days a week work... amazing! That's the actual salary too not pro rata, as it's £29K if it was full time!! I would sell my car too and pay off my credit card and some of my overdraft with it... I should give it back to my folks as it's their money really but I am sure they will understand, I can always up their repayments!
Once again I have let the fairies run away with me...Life is too short not to love what you do.0 -

Hey rdchick, im a nurse and found the course real tough the first year but settled after that. They design it so the first year is hard figuring those who really want to do it will stick it out. Placements now are only roughly 6-8 weeks and are the shift hours you would work once qualified. I find my job really rewarding but would advise to seriously look at job availabilty in your area as nursing jobs have reduced due to nhs being in so much trouble. Also you may need to do a conversion course before you can nurse in SA which would be added cost to emigrating. Part time jobs whist training are usually doing bank auxillary work. Most hospitals snap up trainee nurses as they know the bursary paid is pants and many want experience on wards whilst getting paid.
Im waiting for the nhs to sort itself out so i can top up and do my midwifery!!!!December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

Hi Rags!
I dunno what to do for the best. The BF and I need to talk about whether or not we are going to SA and when. Thing is, if we want to go before 2 years then there isn't much point in starting the nursing.
I live in Southampton and there does seem to be quite a lot of newly qualified nurses jobs in my area, however in 2/3 years time that might change, just gotta roll with the punches though and go wheres needed! I dunno... lots of decisions to make... need some experience too - which is fine, Southampton General is a great hospital for wannabe nurses - just gotta take a deep breath and go for it I guess.

What a mess I am still in.
Sorry I haven't been around much, things have been hectic.
Since my last visit I have so far lost the grand total of 11lbs. Spoke to the Navy to see if I can be Naval Nurse, spent a weekend in London and gained a certificate in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). Planned my birthday party this weekend, going as Belle from Beauty and the Beast but don't feel like a princess. Next Monday is my 23rd Birthday and next Wednesday I am off to Newcastle to see the RAF and talk about a career in nursing with them. It's been manic and my bank account is screwed from it.
I still have £7K worth of debt, still only earn £15K and wondering how the hell I will ever get out of debt. My friend has asked her MIL about money and what I can do as she is a financial advisor. I can't afford to go on a DMP because I need a good credit rating and to be debt free before joining the services.
I need more money and I need to stop spending it.
Hope you're ok and sorry for being missing in action xxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
You sound so stressed! Just think at least you are making steps to further your career! You are not just sat there hoping the debt will magic away!
(((hugs))) (sound like you need them!)
