Hiya,
I swear by enamel coated baking trays, they seem to last forever no matter how much they get stuff burnt on them or scrubbed ! brilliant

Ok, so I have completely wrecked my cheapo baking trays. Can any one reccommend some decent but not expensive baking trays? Also, how do I keep them in good nick??
I have Mermaid bakeware. They're not cheap, but after several years of wear, they're still in excellent nickTo keep them, make sure that they're always clean and dry before putting away, and don;t use sharp utensils on them.
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread where you can see more recommendations.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hi All!
I am just wondering where yoyu get your baking trays from? I am in desperate need of 3 or 4 of them, but am not sure to buy some cheapy ones from the supermarket, or get more expensive ones, like prestige, in the hopes they will last longer??
Any clues?0 -
Cookbooks I've read always recommend the expensive ones, and I'm sure I've read that the thin cheap ones supposedly distort and become uneven over time in high heats however my cheapy ones have lasted me very well so far with no problems at all; will watch this thread with interest!0

Thanks Mand.
My cheapy ones so far always bend and go all manky and stained and distorted within less than a year and was wondering if thats normal for baking trays?
Hence the reason i thought more expensive ones may work out more expensive in the short term, but last longer so make it worth it.0 -
Thanks Shebangs, do you mind me asking which ones you buy?0

i have a mix of supermarket cheapies and expensive ones.
i bought sainsburys basic/sainsburys own brand when just starting out and as they have got worse over time ( 4 - 5 years of use) ive gradually been replacing them with lakelands own brand (usually on 3 for 2) and im very impressed with the lakeland ones i have so far.
i tried asda's own and tesco own baking trays but i found them to be extremly cheap and nasty compared to the sainsburys ones.0 -
The best baking tray I ever had was a heavy blue steel one that was quite expensive - it got left in an old oven when it was taken away :mad::mad:.
Cheap trays will distort, and the non-stick will come off (then they can rust). Heavier trays will conduct the heat better and will last much longer.
I would buy expensive if I could afford it, but tbh cheap will do if that is all you can afford.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
