    Ideas and suggestions please

I have a solid wood coffee table. It has suffered over the years from the abuse the kids have given it. But despite a little 'distressed' look is still very useable.

However the top has two stone/marble tiles laid in on the top. They and the surrounding wood has lost nearly all the laquer. Now they are getting marks on them and it seems constantly sticky and impossible to clean.

Could I gently rub down the wood and re - varnish the top (including tiles) or would I be better to recover the top with mosaic or tiles or something?

Been quite busy the last few weeks so have only been lurking and flying where possible. The house isn't too horrendous but this weekend is operation clean and tidy as for the first time in 8 years I have a weekend to myself as DH and the girls are away camping for the weekend. I am determind to make the house immaculate for the weekend so I can enjoy it! Will do as much as possible tonight I think then finish off anything else tomorrow. Hopefully with no distractions I can whizz through the house.

I have a fabulous carrot cake recipe that I got off a website ages ago. Can't find the website so I'll type it out and pm you with it. It really is gorgeous though and just the mention of it makes me want to make some now! Will do that now then go on to a HHC.

I need a massive dose of 'get a grip' has anyone got any?

I have spent the last hour and a half blubbering like a freak.. I need a slap!

I just can't seem to stop for more than 5 minutes I am driving myself mad!

No it is not necessary nor justified.. and I am now upsetting Squeak!

On a plus note the WM, TD and DW are on..

DD1 went out without saying goodbye..
OH has gone to his mothers until Sunday and I am by myself with Squeak and while I can cope with that she has a REALLY sore bottom which looks like thrush courtesy of the AB's.. and she must have pooped a while ago and I didn't realise so now I feel mean...

I am so pathetic I tend to fall apart when I am alone.

See.. none of it is necessary.. but this is the culmination of the weeks woes all at once.. I won't stop until bedtime now!.. Early night ahead!!!

Hugs Pigpen (don't care if you don't want one - here's one anyway:p) DD2 always had a really sore bum like that. I ended up giving her pro-biotics in powder form sprinkled in her breakfast as she was on long term antib's when she was a baby and seemed to permanently have thrush until we did that. DH got stopped by a police car when we went to N. Wales on our hols at 1am and when they asked what he was doing out and about that late they weren't expecting him to say he was getting nappy cream as DD2 bum was really sore!!!

HHC ended up 45 mins but DD's room looks lovely now. Just having a 15 minute break then DD1's room will be attacked. Fortunately it's not that bad so shouldn't take quite as long.

uropachild - hope your sore mouth feels better soon x
