Maybe this explains why they have phoned me 3 times in the last week trying to get my to buy a plan. Shady little punks.
 how incredibly heartless and insensitive. I too have lost my dream job... how do you think it feels to have it taken away from you like that and have people like benson112 or whoever they are say they are pleased for us. if you hated olan mills that much, why did you use them.
i totally aggree with the other olan mills staff member on here hoping you choke on your turkey and have a very happy christmas NOT!!!:mad:0 -

one thing i would like to say to any olan mills customers on here which i have just thought of.
if there is any of you out there who have ordered pictures in the last couple of weeks and have been told you are not going to receive them, i totally feel for all of you as my thoughts went out to you all when i was told i had lost my job. for some of you there may be help at hand.
if you bought the photo cd you would have taken that away with you when you paid for it. i know you have lost money through olan mills and probably wouldnt want to risk losing anymore, but any of you with the cd can still get your pictures printed at other places. if you want to that is, i'm only trying to help. i know for a fact that bonusprint, boots, photo factory and any shop that has a kodak printing machine will print these pictures for you.
i hope you find this in some ways helpful.0 -
Looks like a luck escape for me. We have (had) a watch me grow pack, and they kept phoning up a few weeks back to get us to come in. My partner made an apointment a couple of weeks back and normally ends up ordering about £100 worth of photos for family etc. but as it happens the kids were really playing up so she canceled it. Just as well as I doubt we would have got the pictures.0

I had experience with Olan Mills during the 90's (94 and 97), I only had apicture taken of each of my children and the free makeover/photo of me (which unfortunately still hangs on my parents wall  ), I was caked in makeup and whilst the photo looked great, it wasn't really me.... so un-natural.... the kids pics looked great... but I did find them over priced and hence bought no more from them, I think the key thing here is that they were hard sell and maxium profit, maybe if they had been willing to lessen profit margins they would have had more takers.... I do feel for the people who worked for them and wish them good luck in their search for new jobs.. but how awful just before christmas!!!!2007 £1749
2008 £291.99
2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.990 -

£26 bye bye!!!
up untill thursday evening when we all got 'the call' i was a manager of a olan mills studio. no one knew this was going to happen, olan mills was going to bought out on wednesday and the buyer pulled out leaving the comany no choice but to close, we didnt know the company was in trubble.
its horrible that people have lost photos and plans but lots and lots of staff member went back to there studio un paid to make sure photos which was in studio got picked up before locks got changed.
i myself will miss olan mills so much we was like a big happy family the staff was amazing, i have not stopped crying yet and i know some people who look like loseing there houses. some staff got paid on friday but there wages was then took back out on saturday, i have no idea how the company can get away with doing that but they did. so please when moaning about losing you 24.95 plans, think about us who have lost so much more the week before christmas.0 -

We had our pictures taken on Nov. 29th, and shelled out £180 for pics of me, OH and 6 week old son. We haven't got them yet..its not so much the losing £180 but its the fact that he is our first son, we wanted some really special pics done of the three of us and now this happens, and we can't afford to go out and have another shoot done elsewhere  so now we have lost out on the memories more than anything.
We are just hoping and praying that either A) Since we had the pics done over 2 weeks ago they have been produced and we may be able to get hold of them somehow orMy gf payed for them by Visa Electron, she is going to phone the bank later to see if they can help at all
P.S> The helpline number (08457 585351) is constantly engaged! Been trying all morning
Edit: Geographic number is: 01933 400200 just got through but am on hold now
Edit2: Well after speaking to the helpful Olan Mills customer service, a bit of good news. Apparently since our order was placed 3 weeks ago it has already been processed, produced and packaged up for shipping. The administrators are currently in talks with Royal Mail to ship out the orders which are ready to go. If the talks break down, they call pull my order from the shipping area to the office and I can arrange for a courier to collect it and get it delivered to me (which would cost no more than £20 based on previous courier dealings). If you are in a similar situation, PLEASE give them a call, just keep trying..I was told to call back tomorrow for the status on the royal mail deal0 -
I know which boat i'd rarther be in!
I'd rarther have lost the money on my package and a freebie photo, BUT instead I am a 19 year old unemployed photographer...
Who ACTUALLY was fully trained and who passed my MPA gaining letters after my name and at the time abit more money to boot (which wasn't bad)
But - who worked to the very last day making kids giggle and as one family told me "That was the best time, we have ever had here...", making disks and putting though orders up until 7.30 when we all got the push via phone call.
The next day having to tell my MANAGER!, she had no job as she had to attened her daughters school play the night we found out, clearing my desk and telling customers the bad news.
Knowing I wasn't going to get paid for the last week I worked, having working 13 days without a day off anyway. Then yesterday finding out the wages that had been paid to me had been taken out via the company setting up a direct debit (which I DID NOT authorise) and that my bank couldn't stop it leaving my account.
Bank balance now at £-206.00 with bank charges to come!
No prezzie's for my brother, boyfriend and some other family members.
I know i am young and *fingers crossed* will find somewhere I love again soon. But we are all victims in this in a way some more than others.
Have a nice Christmas
