I have to say as a sales person and an ex sales person of Olan mills a number of years ago if you pretend you are interested in the package and use the excuse "I have no Money" then the sales person assumes you are interested and will contact you at a suitable time for you to buy....why not just say your not interested in the first place instead of fobbing them off. Its only their job.......0 -
I own and run a photo studio in Worcestershire,
so I know the difficulties in keeping it profitable.
To be successful, you have to keep overheads well down,
that is always going to be difficult for a large company,
with lots of employees, because the more profitable studios would have to
subsidise the less successful ones. What surprises me is why the whole group has gone down, They should have taken earlier steps to save the core business.
Maybe they will reopen the most profitable sites later under new ownership, not much use for the losers though. You see, us consumers can't have it all ways, increasing personal digital camera ownership has eaten into the private studios work, so I am not entirely surprised, by Olan Mills demise, but good luck to the displaced employees, I hope they can find work.0 -

MooseNoodles What annoys me about things like this is that they must have known for a week or two that the company was going tits up so to say and yet they had still been accepting orders and money from people last week.Sorry to put a happy note to this thread but this has to be the best news ive ever heard!! I HATE olan mills. We had 3 pics left on our plan soooo glad they have gone now!! Ive lost £15....SO WHAT!! Totally worth it to see Olan Mills go into administration.
Maybe this explains why they have phoned me 3 times in the last week trying to get my to buy a plan. Shady little punks.
Oh my god!!!!! Do you have any idea how it feels to lose a job you absolutely loved and right before christmas. Not only can I not afford to pay any of my bills, I cant afford to buy my 2 little nieces , my brothers and sisters or anyone else a christmas pressie this year. No turkey, no roast, no cards noe nothing!!! I've go no wages, no job and its totally the wrong time of year to find work as most places are now getting rid of the xmas temps. granted you may not have liked olan mills but that place was my life and now im left with nothing.
Hope you cruel insensitive ppl choke on ur turkey!!!!0 -
For all those people who are moaning about losing money or pictures think of the employees who found out by telephone that they were to lose their jobs before xmas. None of the studios knew and everyone is gutted. people losing their jobs like that most feel like they've had a big kick in the teeth.0

I thought Tesco and Argos, along with other comanies, only put money in for those that requested vouchers from Fairpak for their stores, I wasn't aware they put in money for thsoe that hadn't.0 -
abbecer wrote:S**t. I am gutted to read this!!! I paid last week for the watch me grow package for my 2 boys so that i could go this week and have some nice pictures to give as xmas prezzies. I also bought 3 of the teen make over packages for my nieces for xmas. Does anyone rate my chances of getting my money back as i paid on my debit card.

I think that if its a visa debit and you have paid over £100 in one transaction then you have the same protection as you would have with a credit card.
