Probably because they had their incoming profits here(rings a price on a piece of paper) but really the profits were actually a lot less and today only is this tiny price here(draws a big pen mark around another lower figure) !!
I wont miss them as they really hounded me to get more photos done but im very sorry if anyone has lost any money.0 -
I also had a watch-me-grow plan but had already had 1 sitting and for £20.00 I dont feel too bad for myself as it wasnt a lot lost but do feel for the people waiting for pictures I thought of those as soon as I heard.
And the poor staff with no jobs now, what a terrible shame0 -
What annoys me about things like this is that they must have known for a week or two that the company was going tits up so to say and yet they had still been accepting orders and money from people last week.:mad:0

My daughter paid £75 last week, they must have known that they were going into administration.
This is the busiest time of the year for olan mills and when they make the most profit. So how come they have gone into administration on their busiest week?0 -
S**t. I am gutted to read this!!! I paid last week for the watch me grow package for my 2 boys so that i could go this week and have some nice pictures to give as xmas prezzies. I also bought 3 of the teen make over packages for my nieces for xmas. Does anyone rate my chances of getting my money back as i paid on my debit card.

No, but money lost is money lost which is the same.0 -
I wonder what contributed to their downfall? The rise of digital cameras and printing maybe? Though I would have thought the market for pro photo studio shoots would not be affected. Olan Mills is the only place I know for miles that does this. Where do we go now for photo shoots?0

We lost our Olan Mills ages ago as the whole shopping center was knocked down. I had a voucher for them which I was going to use so I lost out then.
Mind you here in Derby I know of at least 3 photo studios in the town.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The top Directors would have known but that was about it and they would not say anything as it may have affected their chances of the administrators agreeing to help them trade out of the problem.MFIT No. 810 -
I can tell you the staff in store concessions certainly did not know. My daughter spent some time on Friday consoling the manager of our local one who was devastated. She simply got a call on Friday morning telling her to send her staff home and then go herself and not to come back. From her account, they didn't even break it to the staff gently and left the managers to break the news to the others.0
