Well I've had an interesting day so far....
Had a day off from work so have been having a bit of a pamper session.....hairdressers and then some nice nails (well you never know when youre going to have to show your hands off!)
anyway so i got home and OH was asking if we were still planning on going to town tomorrow (we go most weekends) and when I said yes, dont see why not, he said great, will you come and have a look at some jewellers with me!!!!!!!
He said he has been looking at rings but doesnt want to choose something all by himself in case he gets it wrong so he wants me to go and select a few that I like at the shops. I said about the one that I posted above and he said ' are you sure you like that one best, its ONLY £350!!! I just laughed out loud, and told him that he didnt need to spend more than that but he has insisted we go and look at the antique jewellers in town tomorrow as he wants me to have something unique (he knows I adore vintage!)
He said if I see something he would go back and get it later so i wouldnt get to wear it until he actually asked me but surely if I've been to choose it he cant keep me waiting that long......
Only thing is I've got a bit of a poorly cat and we probably will end up having to stay in and look after her so might not even get into town!! That would be so frustrating - thinking of asking my dad to catsit for a bit just so we can get out!!
EXCITING :T:T:T:T:T
This is so so so sooooooooooo exciting and promising! Has your dad confirmed he can cat sit yet?
Wow, that was almost four pages of posts to read through and digest, there was no way i was going to be able to reply to them all :rotfl:. The number 13 is my lucky number so I would love to get married next year, in fact the whole reason I brought the subject up at New Year with OH was because of it, I'd love 1/3/13 as 13/13/13 isn't possible. I would go ballistic if my boyfriend spent 3 months salary on a ring, I do appreciate it is supposed to last forever but there are so many better things to spend it on and a nice ring doesn't have to be expensive. I haven't practiced signatures or anything lol, OH's last name is miles shorter than mine so I don't even think I could have a signature! We did joke about the fact my entire name (including middle name) would be a whopping 10 characters :rotfl:
I have been feeling a bit low this week and still have this rubbish cold, in fact today I have the worlds huskiest/squakiest annoying voice EVER! OH still have said absolutely zilch about anything wedding related so I just pulled up that website and turned the screen round to show him and said 'when you get round to it.....but it should be purple and not pink'.....his reply was 'what, for an engagement ring?'..................errrrrr YEAH doofus! I mean, are they really that dense? (No need to answer!). Then he commented on the fact there was no price and he wanted to know how much it was so I asked what he deemed as expensive, apparently his shiny new £500 laptop was expensive....so the cost is about the same. I didn't think he had taken much notice of the page but to be fair, when I went to tell him where the shop is he said he knows which one it is and where it is, so he was paying some attention. HALLE-effing-LUJAH!
PS.....I still don't think he will do it.
I got him a card for V day, it says on the front 'Stop being so attractive, I can't get anything done' :rotfl:
Got my first ever wedding invite yesterday! Have never been to a wedding in my adult life (apart from my own 10 years ago) and the invite is lovely, very swish and all colour coded etc. I was only a teeny bit jealous
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

Awww bless ya, why are boyfriends so dim some times?! I have given u hoping for this valentines day, we have done presents now (we never do anything on time we get too excited... He bought me One Day on Blu Ray, Toy Story 1-3 in DVD (we saw Toy Story 3 on our first date in 3D
) and an owl Pandora charm
) very sweet prezzies... No ring though
You have a tiny name too! My first name alone is 9 letters long... When I marry my Dutchman it will be 24 letters long, not including the 2 spaces in his last name! Ahh the Dutchxxx

Gutted, looks like tomorrow is off as we cant leave the cat alone and dont want to ask my parents to be responsible for the poor thing while we go out and have a jolly
(also dont want to have to tell them what is so important that we have to leave her!)
Will see what shes like tomorrow but think the shopping trip may have to be postponed until next week!! I love my cat so much but its times like this when she really annoys me!!!!
Feeling quite upset about it at the minute - the cat is quite traumatized about the whole thing but so am I!!
So near yet so far!!!!!!!!!0 -
Oh no - I hope the cat has suddenly perked up this morning!
I just had a conversation with my OH that included the words "it's like they were married so didn't do it any more" I can't believe he thinks that's what happens when you get married! I tried to protest, citing the "newlyweds" stereotype, and I saw the cogs whirring a bit, but...argh! No wonder he is in no rush to get wed!0 -
Just out of interest, how are we all posting on here in the middle of a weekday?! I have been signed off work for a month with nerve damage in my head (OUCH) and would be going insane without MSE forums - what's everyone else's excuse?
I always wonder that lol, I'm a "mature" student lol so I have lots of gaps inbetween lectures etc when I'm procrastinating and putting off working on my final year projectGutted, looks like tomorrow is off as we cant leave the cat alone and dont want to ask my parents to be responsible for the poor thing while we go out and have a jolly

Aww squirrels, that's bad timing. I hope your cat is better soon. I've got two and would hate it if they were ill, they're like my babies lollove them to bits.
If you didn't manage to make it to the shop today, are they open on sundays?
I'm going a bit nuts at the moment, still haven't heard from my job interview yet, gets really annoying at 5 on a friday knowing it's gonna be at least til monday then. And I have an ear infection at the moment, 2 and a half hours in the out of hours GP centre last night just for some ear drops lol.0 -
Grrr, sorry to hear you didn't get to look at rings today squ1rrel5 - hopefully in the next couple of weeks though! I hope your cat gets better soon.
Verandi and jtr - I hope you both feel better soon, and that you get the news you want about your interview verandi.
We got a wedding invite yesterday - one of our uni friends is getting married in Bristol in July. The wedding is an Alice in Wonderland theme and sounds awesome from the invite, quite relaxed and very similar to what I'd want from my own wedding. It feels so much different from last year when I was quite upset to keep getting wedding invites and think 'why isn't it me?' and this year, when it's only February and we've already been invited to a wedding and a wedding party (another uni friend but they're eloping and having a party afterwards), I feel 'Aw, yay for them, that sounds great!'. I don't know whether or not this bodes well for me, but maybe rdchick's thing about weddings begetting weddings may come into play - these two couples were the ones predicted to get married first in our uni crowd and then OH and I were 'next' apparently, so you never know..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Let's hope the bf's crazy Dutch friend is right and a wedding comes from a wedding! (it's his wedding in April... Cannot wait!)
Squirrel (also a nickname of mine actually haha) did you get to look at any rings today? I would have looked online just to strike while the irons hot! XxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -

Hope the fact that it's now the weekend is making everyone feel better and colds etc have subsided! Get some wine down you, it is my cure all remedy!!!!
My kitty seems a lot better today too and seems to be behaving herself so we actually got a couple of hours out the house earlier, so.....
We went ring shopping!! YAY!!!! None purchased yet, OH will have to go back another time to get the ONE but we have pretty much narrowed it down to two choices!!
Apparently I am not allowed the one in the earlier post - as my OH doesnt think it's good enough
We walked round every jeweller in our town (a lot) but the two I have chosen are in the same place. One was a complete surprise to me as it is very classic and modern but very beautiful and sparkly and looked lovely on my hand!!
The other is VERY ME in a vintage art deco style which is just gorgeous and quite different to most engagement rings I've seen people with!
They are both about 3 times more expensive than my original choice and I protested that it was far too much money but he insisted that is what he wants to spend.... so I guess I shouldnt really argue!!
I would have posted pics but neither of the ones we chose are on the shops website so I'll wait and see which one I get and then will post a real life pic, so you can all be surprised with me!
I dont think 'The Proposal' will be on V' day as he was talking about it earlier saying that it's not a day that's personal to us - i dont think he means he is going to wait for a special occasion as there isnt any coming up, rather that he doesnt just want to share it with everyone else - I just assume he'll choose a random day so that can be our special day in the future.
He did say that we could have waited til we were on holiday in May but also said that would probably be too far away so that's a good sign!! So I guess I've got less than 3 months to wait!!!!
I have told him that he mustnt do it on 29th Feb as I dont think anyone would believe that it was really him that asked me, knowing how much I want this!!! Plus I dont want an anniversary that we only celebrate every 4 years!!!! :rotfl:
All in all, it's very promising!!!!!!!!0
