Hope the fact that it's now the weekend is making everyone feel better and colds etc have subsided! Get some wine down you, it is my cure all remedy!!!!
My kitty seems a lot better today too and seems to be behaving herself so we actually got a couple of hours out the house earlier, so.....
We went ring shopping!! YAY!!!! None purchased yet, OH will have to go back another time to get the ONE but we have pretty much narrowed it down to two choices!!
Apparently I am not allowed the one in the earlier post - as my OH doesnt think it's good enough
We walked round every jeweller in our town (a lot) but the two I have chosen are in the same place. One was a complete surprise to me as it is very classic and modern but very beautiful and sparkly and looked lovely on my hand!!
The other is VERY ME in a vintage art deco style which is just gorgeous and quite different to most engagement rings I've seen people with!
They are both about 3 times more expensive than my original choice and I protested that it was far too much money but he insisted that is what he wants to spend.... so I guess I shouldnt really argue!!
I would have posted pics but neither of the ones we chose are on the shops website so I'll wait and see which one I get and then will post a real life pic, so you can all be surprised with me!
I dont think 'The Proposal' will be on V' day as he was talking about it earlier saying that it's not a day that's personal to us - i dont think he means he is going to wait for a special occasion as there isnt any coming up, rather that he doesnt just want to share it with everyone else - I just assume he'll choose a random day so that can be our special day in the future.
He did say that we could have waited til we were on holiday in May but also said that would probably be too far away so that's a good sign!! So I guess I've got less than 3 months to wait!!!!
I have told him that he mustnt do it on 29th Feb as I dont think anyone would believe that it was really him that asked me, knowing how much I want this!!! Plus I dont want an anniversary that we only celebrate every 4 years!!!! :rotfl:
All in all, it's very promising!!!!!!!!
Fantastic news Squirrel!! I'm so pleased for you.
Hope all you other ladies are doing well; I've been there myself, having known I wanted to marry him after six months but not getting engaged until we'd been together for four years!

Remember I posted (ages ago) about wanting to get married in NYC?? Well this evening, OH was looking at a website called 'Getting Married in New York' - then turned it round to show me and said 'this might be an idea'!!!!
Its funny because now im leaning more towards a uk wedding but still, great to know he's pretty much on my wavelength!!
I've totally found myself a keeper here!!!!
I still reckon someone on here will beat me to it with a surprise V day proposal - i hav my fingers and toes crossed!!! :T0 -

I think I have a long way to go with mineLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
After our daughter was born 3 years ago I was sat in the registrars office allowing his name to be the one she took because he'd said 'we'll all have the same name soon anyway'
Her 3rd birthday has been and gone, we've had several very emotional conversations about this and how crap I feel at not even having the same name as my daughter (she can recite his name, his parents and sister in full, my name she struggles with because it's different) and no, not a single proposal - he keeps saying 'of COURSE I want to marry you' and has been telling me he wants to marry me since before she was even conceived - for 6 years he's been telling me we will be married ONE DAY.
So yes, I totally 'get' the feeling of being strung along. I really do feel on many days that he is only saying what I want to hear, that he has been trapped into this relationship etc etc so I NEED the commitment of marriage to make me feel secure again.
Sanity is not the word to describe my feelings in this matter - yes we have a good relationship generally but I feel that he has both broken a promise and for whatever reason doesn't want to commit. YET I also know he has a huge Italian family and wants the big wedding - which we'll never be able to afford, so. I'm stuck waiting and feeling !!!!!! about it until we either win the lottery or I make an appointment at the registry office myself and tell him point blank it's now or never; put up or shut up.
In my mind It's gone well past the time for romance, I just want security, to know that he really DOES want to be with me and isn't just in a rut.
Sadly he doesn't 'get' that; If a guy will repeatedly say he wants to marry you but no proposal is forthcoming then he is an idiot to think that's ok. every time he says or mentions it or one of your acquaintances mentions it (as happens at least once a week) it's like being stabbed through the heart with false expectations.
Men are idiots if they think the important thing is to make a big show and do it 'properly'. the important thing is to JUST DO IT!0 -
Oh rosevibe, I think we all know how you feel
you've come to the right place to vent, though. We're all in the same boat!
