Ooh how come? Southampton can be nice, especially the nearer you get to the New Forest :)

As for 2013 I am not fussed. When me and the BF first got together we said we would get married on 12/12/12 as it was the last chance to have a funky date my birthday is 10/10 so I wanted 10/10/10 but 2 months into the relationship might have been a bit quick!!

Just sent the link for that gorgeous heart ring to the BF, with the title 'if we won the lottery' lol! we can dream :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a lovely Friday! xxx

Seems like I might be the only Northerner on here!!!

I was talking about rings in general to a girl in work - she's very young and very high maintenance and when I said if I get engaged, Im not even worried about a ring, she almost choked and said that she would HAVE to have a ring and she wouldnt accept anything less than about 3 months salary!!

I was speechless.....think she has a lot of growing up to do first!!!

I am north east, although as the thread has progressed I shouldn't really still be on here.........

I can not believe she would say that! My OH has a really good job and so 3 months salary would be OMG around £14k of a sparkler on my finger:eek: Blooming nora, I wouldn't leave the house.

    She sounds a right catch.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Lol yeah mine would be about £12K that would be mental! I'd be scared with just a couple of hundred quid ring lol! I'd be happy with a Haribo ring if it meant we were gonna get married!! xxx

I can't remember how, but the topic of haribo rings actually came up in conversation last night with my OH. I think we were just talking about sweets or something, when, he goes and says, with no "Well if I bought you a haribo ring, everyone would think I was a cheapskate!" I said I wouldn't care, but I'd need a bag a week as I'd keep eating them off my finger! I then moved the subject on to hula hoops, party rings and other such ring-shaped foodstuffs, in the hope I didn't start labouring the point. Interesting that he's still thinking about it though, without prompting...

I know it's not any time soon as he said that a month ago, plus his financial situation means he hasn't got extra to spend right now. But still, at least he's not forgotten about it.

BTW, here is my ideal ring types, whilst we're sharing! http://www.amazon.co.uk/registry/wishlist/3JG1Q3RAT5YTA

And seeing that gorgeous Dutch building reminded me - ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to get married here (used to go for carol services for years, and worked next door!) http://moodzcreations.com/WordPress/?p=3451

Ooh that church is gorgeous! I didn't want to get married in a church but the BF is Catholic so it looks like we are gonna have to have at least one bit in the church (they do it differently in Holland where you have 2 weddings, one official and one in church but on the same day)

Cute rings too! Before I was with the BF I wanted a flat small ring but now we are together my tastes have changed and want a bit of a sparkler now ;) xxx

Just read that article on rings - its ridiculous isnt it!! I'd never expect OH to fork out a months salary for a ring! If he wanted to he could but I'd never expect it..

My family live more North in the midlands, so I am a frequent visitor to the area.

Wow!! Who is feeding her this rubbish, bless her she will realise or will be lucky and meet a dimwit of a man haha.

My OH doesn't earn very much because he is disabled, so 3 months salary really wouldn't be too much of a shock to others, but there is no way I would let any man spend 3 months salary on something for me - well unless he really wants to, be rude to say no :rotfl:

That was your first mistake, thinking 2 months was too quick ;) I wanted 12/12/12 but OH now says it is too soon, he is right tho we dont have money even for the smallest wedding at the moment. Too much needed doing on the house, so we could live together ;)

My OH earns...a lot, so three months of his salary (pre-tax mind you) would be the price of a house in some parts of the country lol. I think I'd never leave the house if I had to wear something worth that! I don't know how much he's planning on spending but I do know he has NO spare money at the moment as we bought a house in September and for the first two years our mortgage payments are beyond ridiculous...BUT he does get a bonus at the end of Feb so I'm thinking that's where the ring will come from. If I have to wait until August bonus time I won't be happy :(
